This day can absolutely do one, I'm done with this year and January isn't even over.

I'm putting on my pjs, opening an expensive chianti for myself and I'm not sharing, and I'm going to watch the Hunger Games under my blanket.

Everyone can fuck off. Except the cat, he can sit with me if he wants.

Fucking life these days 😤🤯😡😡😷

@pointythings

I'm watching Life on Mars. But it's Dry January, so no wine. Actual herbal tea instead.
Bloody hell, I salute you continuing with DJ.

I ditched it the minute the new lockdown was announced.

We are watching Red Dwarf.

Everything the capitol did was coercive but I don't think Peeta and Katniss' eventual relationship was anything other than one in the eyefor the powers that be. They threw everything they had at turning Peeta against Katniss and their relationship won out. Plus, Peeta loved Katniss way before the Capitol interfered and his acts towards her were more often heartfelt than feigned. I think Katniss just came to understand him.

I agree, he always loved her. But I don't think she would have actively loved him if his life hasn't depended on it, and if they hadn't been thrown together in such a life or death. I just felt so sad in the end. It was never a true love story. More like a survival story.

Very true

Mmmm the Katniss - Peeta - Gale triangle is always a tricky one. I always felt she was too harsh towards Gale for the bomb trick but that may be because I ❤️ Liam Hemsworth Blush

ShowOfHands · 21/01/2021 21:04

It is a survival story but that's not necessarily a bad thing. IRL it's the hardships that often draw couples together or cement their relationship, it's just that dystopia shines a light on and magnifies that. Nobody else would have been able to understand either of them post events and no doubt they'd have a fucked up dynamic but what's the alternative?

The relationship arc is quite poorly written but I can see what she was trying to do.

Yes I really wanted Katniss to choose Gale. Although I don't really remember the details of the Mockingjay storyline as the book was awful so I didn't bother with the film either. I loved Catching Fire and the whole clock concept thing!

ShowOfHands · 21/01/2021 21:06

She never liked Gale. She admired him and needed him but I don't think it was ever anything but one-sided. And he sacrificed innocent children, sort of the central issue with the whole foundation of society as Katniss knew it.

I preferred Finnick's romantic entanglements tbh.
