Apart from a twice weekly venture to the village Co-Op and muddy walks, we are at home pretty much constantly. Yesterday the cabin fever set in badly and I was beyond fed up with staring at the same walls.

Any ideas to make home a little bit lovelier?
So far I’ve come up with:

Treating myself to a nice scented candle.
Buying a pot of hyacinths, to herald early spring.
Making sure the kitchen is properly tidy before bedtime so everything is fresh each morning.
Asking DH to bake bread more often ( it’s his spousal USP)
Painting the downstairs loo in colours I wouldn’t normally choose ( I’ve gone for the actually quite weird colour combination of my old school uniform, as I’m feeling nostalgic).

Any other ideas?

I have just been looking at the Wensleydale Creamery site. I feel a need for blue cheese coming on.

@midsomermurderess

I can recommend their smoked cheddar, chilli jelly, and the fig, walnut and honey biscuits if they're back in stock, also the ginger parkin.

Still just cooking normal things, can't be bothered to create culinary genius.

I love cooking but I did have one week of tapas, party food and paper plates as I really cba!

Nice bath, using up some of the many products I have stashed..
Bought a neom diffuser so enjoy having that on
I love cleaning so there's always some of that to do

I've done some self tutorial of a couple of pc based things
Sorted any excess clutter out
Played with my cat!
Me and the dp aren't speaking (live apart) so that's hard.. Normally I'd enjoy learning something to cook but don't really feel like it half the time..

We’ve had fire pit nights with the kids - making s’mores and when the kids go back to the Xbox, we sit outside with cocktails looking at the stars.
What bulbs could I still plant now? Any advice from the green fingered among you.
Also got a dartboard-DC love it
Making an effort to have the lounge tidy and cosy in the evening with everything tided away, lamps on and smelly candles lit.
Really inspired by ideas on here. Great idea for a thread OP thanks

Lavender soap. I feel the need to buy it during every lockdown. Am also painting the downstairs loo. Other ideas:
Buy a bird feeder and have it near the window
Buy nice scented cleaning products
Get some interior magazines to flit through
Buy a nice tea cup and some lovely teas
Observe the small detail when out on walks to make the world feel a little bit bigger
Give yourself a pedicure/face mask
Lay the table, put on a table cloth, get dressed up, put some music on and get a take out from a nice restaurant
Listen to some different types of music that you wouldn't normally listen to (African/folk/jazz)
Go onto YouTube and look up videos of travelling through other countries or do virtual tours of museums/buildings etc, or go for a wander around a city abroad using street view
Learn a musical instrument or a new hobby using YouTube.

Theme nights. It's Burns Night on Monday so we'll have a haggis for dinner. We're planning a Super Bowl party too. It's on overnight on Sunday so we'll watch it the following evening with hot dogs and other American snacks.

DP and I are also enjoying virtual beer tastings. It's not quite a night in the pub but we've tries some great new beers and it's a fun way to spend an evening

domesticslattern · 21/01/2021 22:42

Trying lots of different shower gels.
Kept the fairy lights up since Xmas.
Star gazing on clear nights.
I ought to write letters but can't be arsed.
Teaching the DC to cook. Generally getting them involved in meal planning and preparation.
Family karaoke (sorry neighbours)
DH is taking DC1 running in the mornings.
DC2 is teaching me to code.
Good idea for a thread OP Smile

Love the firepit idea.

Dp would think I was bonkers if I suggested getting dressed up for a takeaway or nice meal, sadly. Maybe I should dress up myself anyway!
