Feels immensely proud for thr approximately 5 minutes their house stays clean and tidy?!

I do - I feel ok top of the world, like I got this, I can work, homeschool and keep on top of housework.....it doesn't last Hmm

That should be "I feel ok, I'm on top of the world" lol

Yep - and the five minutes between salary coming in and direct debits going out! Grin

Whattodoffs · 21/01/2021 11:59

Oh god yeah - it's nice to be rich for a few seconds isn't it Grin

Yeah, I actually wondered to myself on Saturday what time of day do people clean their house?

I do a thorough tidy in the morning and the kids wreck everything a few mins later, then a quick tidy up when the 1yo goes to bed but the house seems to always be messy. Am I doing it all wrong?

Whattodoffs · 21/01/2021 14:32

I find no matter what time of day I do it, its notnlong before the mess appears!

Oh yes.

i read on here about 'payday millionaires'.

That's me.

Why though, why do my teenagers seem blind to the bin??

FlibbertyGiblets · 21/01/2021 14:38

I used to almost weep at the strandline of toys, comfort yourselves with the thought that by secondary age most of your children will be done with Lego and whatnot

secure a sock to your Hoover sucky pipe with an elastic band, suck up loads of Lego that way, invert sock into the toy box, a top tip you'll love

Bin Jenga is my all-time favourite time - so much so I play it all the time! I deliberately leave emptying the bin to see how much rubbish can be stacked in/on it before I lose my shit!
My other favourite is how long the recycling stays on on side of the.worktop before it has its little outing to the brown bin!

And washing bin blindness is another terrible thing we have to put up with....teenager moaning her clothes haven't been washed! "Well where are they then" mumbles sheepishly "on my bedroom floor" ladies and gentleman I rest my case, over to you m'lord

I have a recycling/laundry basket Blush
Whattodoffs · 21/01/2021 17:16

@Thesagacontinues I have a laundry bin but I seem to be the only person who is able to see it! My rule is if its not in the bin it doesn't get washed....hence teenager's washing not being done!
Recycling goes straight in the brown bin outside. I out small things in a pile at the end of the worktop when I'm doing things ready to go out. Again, I appear to be the only one who can see it 🤣

Ahh, but you'll miss it when they're all gone.

I'm sitting here in my perfectly clean house, which stays like this all the time as the two of us are quite tidy. I think I'd rather have my DC all home and have the house messy as it was at Christmas.

Another top tip from me is to give them all their own laundry baskets. You might find their dirty clothes migrate to it, though obviously there'll be nothing actually inside it. Grin

Whattodoffs · 21/01/2021 18:48

@AuntyMabelandPippin you are so right. My parents say the same all the. They'd give anything to have us all back home causing mayhem and sleepless nights....we'll maybe not the sleepless nights lol x

@Whattodoffs Bin jenga is overrated. I have bought a two tier draining rack for the draining board and I play draining rack tetris, you'd be impressed at how I can get 6 plates, 2 saucepans, the colander, a wok and about a zillion mugs on it. I have also learnt how to stack it so that the whole lot doesn't play frisbee when the washing machine is on the spin cycle preens

Whattodoffs · 21/01/2021 19:37

@friedafinn go you! Nailed this haven't you 🤣
