Cheapest way to hire a car?

I have a car that’s faulty, it’s looking like I’m going to have to reject the car and get a refund.

This will probably leave me a 1-3 month gap while my next cars ordered, but which company will work out best for this?.

Dh has heart problems so I need a car for when I take him to hospital & car.

There are price comparison sites for car hire. Don’t know which is cheapest but worth a look. I paid for a holiday car hire with Tesco club card vouchers with europecar.

Right, I didn’t know that. Thank you.

I’ve never had to hire a car.

The bigger rental companies do lower price options for cars in their fleet that are higher mileage, but you need to check meage restrictions and insurance as that can make it almost the same as "full price".

I'd buy a £300 banger off eBay/Facebook - then sell it/scrap it when you're done

Is your faulty car new? If you are ordering from same dealer they may have something you can loan as it's not ur fault

Otherwise why is it going to be 3 months? Depending what you are after you might find another one sooner?

This is the most cost effective option.

Yeah dh has mentioned buying a banger.

It might not take 3 months but I like to err on the side of it all going wrong.

I only got the car dec 20 and relations between us and the dealership have been fraught.

Google ‘car rental comparison’. Check mileage and insurance restrictions carefully.

Find the cheapest second hand car in your area and consider if it will survive for a few months.

Use Uber or call a local taxi service to estimate costs for your regular journeys and multiply that by three months.

Call the dealership and ask if they can provide something whilst you wait for your new car. (It is possible but not guaranteed depending on the problems with your car and conditions of sale).

I reckon the old banger option will probably be the cheapest.
