He's been there 10 days. A long list of serious problems, we don't know what the outcome will be. He's completely bed bound.

Among other things, he's had severe constipation. I'll spare you the details, but it's been treated and he now has the opposite problem, resulting (as he puts it) in some poor girl having to clean him on an hourly basis.

He says the staff without exception have been lovely and so patient with him. He didn't want to do chocolate because it's so hot in the ward. What else?

That's very thoughtful. A nice card (funny ones go down well and will get pinned on the notice board), a selection of biscuits (packets of custard creams etc. Doesn't matter if you get 20 cheap packets or 1 box of family circle, they'll be appreciated. You may need to check before hand though (PALS or ward sister). Boxes of tea, coffee, hot chocolate would be appreciated too.

Make a compliment through the hospital's official channels - details should be on the website under 'complaints and compliments' / patient experience / patient feedback.

I'm glad he's had good care and hope his health improves.

Very thoughtful . Decent tea and coffee is always massively appreciated

When my mum was in hospital I took the nurses a hamper of lot of different types of teas including flavoured one and biscuits and some nice coffee
I also took them a huge box of Krispy Kream Donuts that were gone in 60 seconds 😂
Along with a card and a letter of thanks
