Can I tell you my good news???

Last year pre Covid, I was bullied out of my role at work- went down the legal route and got a payout. Then Covid hit and getting back to work was so tough so been living off the payout.

I got a call yesterday offering me an amazing role at a great organisation with a fantastic culture. The pay and benefits are a lot more than what I was earning at the toxic old place and I’ll be working lesser hours!

I had been so down and was worrying as I’m the main bread winner but I am so relieved that I don’t have to worry anymore. Keeping the news to myself in real life but just wanted to share with someone..

Also for anyone going through similar or looking for a job, please don’t give up. I know how hard it is and how bad the anxiety can be, just keep going

Fabulous, well done. Hope everything goes smoothly to get you started in your new place soon.

I've got a job interview on Friday in a field I haven't worked in since my youngest - now 15 - was born. I may not get it, but it sounds like I'm pushing at an open door to get back in a limited way. And the job on offer is part time and fits readily around the other work I've been doing more recently, that I don't want to give up. Fingers crossed.

Deathraystare · 20/01/2021 13:02

That's brilliant! Great you left your shitty job! Great all round!

anewdispensation · 20/01/2021 13:09

Thanks all for the well wishes. It is so good to know that I have people who are genuinely thrilled for me.

It has been such a tough year and my mental year took a battering, I first lost weight from the shock of my abrupt exit and the legal battle that followed then gained weight when lockdown happened and I didn't know what to do with myself and no work was coming through. Being a high earner, it also wasn't easy finding something easily.

I have since December got back on the health and fitness wagon and started exercising daily, sought help for my anxiety and panic attacks and so I felt yesterday's news was the cherry on top.

Honestly if you are looking, don't give up. It is tough I know but good things have a way of finding you when you least expect.

Fantastic news, well done Flowers

Such a lovely reminder that fortunes can and do change, especially when everything is feeling a bit shit! Your family will be thrilled for you.

tinkerbellla · 20/01/2021 14:11

Congratulations! It's such a relief isn't it. I hope your new role is fab and your first day goes well!

Howmanysleepsnow · 20/01/2021 14:18

Well done! That must feel so good.
Can I ask how you pursued it legally? I left my job in potentially similar circumstances. I don’t need a payout but it’d be good if I had leverage to stop them chasing me for a fictitious overpayment of wages 2 years before I left.
