Would you buy pink wellies for a one year old boy?

Just that really. They are pale pink (not a nice pink either) and ankle wellies. DS has chubby legs and normal wellies don't fit so hoping these ones do. The "boy" colour is beige and should be in stock at the end of January. I don't like this colour either tbh but they are wellies. They are so he can run in the mud and puddles not a fashion item. I think I've answered my own question!

Yes of course!!

MustardMitt · 19/01/2021 20:56

Yes I would.

But honestly, he can’t be that abnormally shaped that there are no other wellies that you like better?!

ThorFull · 19/01/2021 20:56

You can buy him whatever colour you want. But if you don’t like them, don’t buy them.

Go for it, and not in the 'omg ur so kewl for this' but he needs something to keep his feet dry these will do. Have you tried Amazon prime?

Samcro · 19/01/2021 20:56

I would have if he liked them.

Neighneigh · 19/01/2021 20:59

Things like wellies and puddle suits are like hen's teeth at the moment so definitely. In no way related, my one year old son was in tights with pink hearts on and he chose pink/rainbow Peppa pig pyjamas at the age of two. Wears only black now, aged 10.5!!

Soontobe60 · 19/01/2021 20:59

Have you looked in Aldi or Lidl? They have loads of kids wellies in at the moment!
I’d buy him whatever he wanted as long as they fit. (And didnt cost a ridiculous amount)

MooseBerry · 19/01/2021 21:00

@MustardMitt I can't keep buying wellies only to send back with the postage charges. I don't want to spend loads on a pair either these are about £13. They are the only ones I have found in stock at an ok price. Just the colour isn't great... But they're wellies.

Forgot to say he is a young one (14mo). He wouldn't even know what colour they were.

My 15m old son wears his older sisters ones that are pink floral. He doesn't know or care.. and no one has ever said anything to me but honestly I'm not buying more wellies for a toddler with no opinion on colour when I've already got a functioning pair. The next size up ones of hand me downs are peppa pig.. I'm still sure he won't care. I have since having him purchased more gender neutral or even 'boy' stuff for my DD to wear so it can more easily be passed down but anything from before having him is quite girly but it hasn't mattered. If they are right then buy them if you want to.

Pfb12345 · 19/01/2021 21:21

Although seeing his age.. what size shoe is he? Wellies I found with mine tended not to fit well until they were at size 5 as they go so high up the leg its hard for them to walk in and keep on. I found a pair of leather zip up boots was better and still waterproof until they have big enough feet and longer legs so I had those in a size 3.5 then into size 4 wellies when they were more like a size 5 in shoes.. but maybe that's just my children!

MooseBerry · 19/01/2021 21:29

@Pfb12345 size 4. Boots seem really expensive and he has quite wide feet. I just begrudge paying money for shoes which won't last long size wise (he has decent every day shoes though). Maybe I'll just forget it again for now.

I'm so sad this is even a question 😒 your very young son needs some wellies that fit him and you've found some. Where's even the issue...

Pfb12345 · 19/01/2021 22:07

@mooseberry yeah they are more expensive. Think I paid £28 for startrite ones with my daughter and then my son wore them and I'm having baby number 3 so may well get another wear out of them which will make it worthwhile but of course I didn't know that at the time.

Ankle wellies won’t keep his feet dry whatsoever if he’s going in puddles. Toddler and kids wellies are so short they’re useless.
One puddle and their feet are soaked. I’d go for as tall as possible

peak2021 · 20/01/2021 07:14

No for the reason @FelicityBob gives. I've seen the puddles in our local common this week.

Shoxfordian · 20/01/2021 07:27

Be careful because it might turn him into a girl
So ridiculous Hmm

Falcone · 20/01/2021 07:30

Yeah I would. My DS had a pink dummy when he was a baby, who cares!

I have to agree with this I don't think ankle wellies would keep him very dry anyway so they would probably be a waste of money?
FaLaLaLaLaLaLaLaBlah · 20/01/2021 07:35

Jojo Maman Bebe wellies are quite wide in the leg - I’d look at those.

Slacktacular · 20/01/2021 07:53

The colour wouldn’t bother me either, but if you want some great options for the chunky leg phase, look at Baby Bogs - they’re not cheap but you should be able to sell them on on a barefoot shoes group or ebay and recoup a bit. The smaller sizes have a Velcro tab at the back which gives them loads more ease. Lovely and light for early walkers as well. The other brands we like are Fuzzios or Demar which you can get on Amazon. Some of their styles are lovely and wide at the top and shorter than standard rubber wellies so easier to get on chubby legs. The thermal liners are usually removable as well which gives you flexibility in fit - they fit my kids for ages because of that.

joystir59 · 20/01/2021 07:57

Pink is just a colour. Get him the wellies. And as he gets old enough to know his colours and make choices let him wear whatever he likes. Do not apply your own gender biases to him and his choices.

MooseBerry · 20/01/2021 09:39

@Shoxfordian are you always this pleasant? I don't like the colour. It's an awful pastel pink. I don't tend to buy clothes and shoes I don't like. He's worn pink previously (nice pinks) and he is still a boy Grin

@FelicityBob the puddles are in the garden and they are shallow. He's only just getting stable on his feet outside.

In any event I've bought the ugly wellies.

If you don’t like the shade of the colour then don’t buy them

changedmynamelol · 20/01/2021 11:30

Absolutely yes. My dc look like walking 🌈 anyway Grin
