How did you tell your DH you were pregnant?

After 9 years of infertility I have had a positive test! I rang DH and kind of shrieked at him Blush but I like hearing stories of how other people tell their other halves.

That’s fantastic news congratulations!

With ds1 I bought a book of baby names and stuck the pregnancy test on the front and gave it to him.

Ds2 was both of us squinting at a test wondering if there was a line 😂

Congratulations! He was with me in the bathroom when I took the test. I made him look first so he actually knew before me.

Congratulations @Flyingwiththecanons ❤️ And I love this thread!!

DH works offshore and had been away 4 days out of a 3 week trip when I found out! Was desperate to keep it secret and tell him face to face but lasted 24 hours then sent him a picture of the positive test while we were on a video call so that I could see his genuine reaction 🤣🤣
I found out 10 minutes before my first driving lesson 🤣🤣 my head was all over the place and I couldn’t concentrate at all 🙈 driving instructor must have thought I was a complete idiot when I couldn’t even follow “right” or “left” and the poor guy was stuck with me for 2 hours 🙈

The first time my husband knew I was doing it and we were at home. I went to our bedroom where he was waiting. It was a very happy moment for us.
The second time was similar.

The third time happened after a 10 year gap which was a total surprise. My husband (a week before the lockdown last March) was in Cambridge for work. He usually worked there in the weekday and would come home on the weekend. We live in South Yorkshire. The office told them to go home earlier and work from home as lockdown was expected.
He was about to leave to come home and I did a test. I was definitely not expecting a positive so it was a shock. I called him straight away in excitement and he was just shocked. He came home with a grin on his face and some of my favourite chocolates. We just couldn't believe it.
I wish I had planned something fun but I'm terrible at keeping secrets from him.

We now have a beautiful 8 week old daughter alongside our 14 and 11 year old. Smile

Congratulations. That is lovely news.
I didn’t test until my period was 6 days late. The previous month it had been 5 days late and I had repeated negatives with DH with me for each one. We had planned to test when I was a week late but I couldn’t hold out any longer and tested while he was at work. We went for a walk in the evening and I took him to where he had proposed and told him there.

Me and DH did the test together both times. I wanted him to be there to support me, so did it before we both set off to work.

It was day before his birthday so I got him a birthday card to daddy... Signed from a bunch of cells... He didn't understand... 🙈

Congratulations @Flyingwiththecanons! Wonderful news.

We had been trying for about 6 months when I was made redundant - luckily I got a new job straight away but we just kind of....forgot about contraception. As it had taken a while I think we just assumed it wouldn’t happen for a while. Then I was at work and mentioned to a friend that I was craving peanut butter all the time and she said “you’re not pregnant are you?!” and I thought “uh oh!” Grin

Took a test that evening (with husband there) and it was a very strong positive. We were both in shock but it was lovely. Second pregnancy I knew we’d had sex practically the second I ovulated and I was right, pregnant immediately Grin

We were going away for a trip to Morocco for our 1st anniversary. I had been given antibiotics for a suspected uti but had this feeling I might be pregnant so didn't want to take them. Dh and I had a row as he wanted me to take them because he was worried i would suffer whilst abroad. I waited till 5 days before my period to test we were both going to work that day then driving down to Manchester to stay with my family the night and flight was the next day. I took a digital clear blue and it came up with 1-2 weeks pregnant. He was in the main bathroom and I banged on that I needed him. He came through and I showed him the test, we both burst into tears. My fil heard crying and knocked on to ask if everything was OK ( we lived with them at the time) and we told him he was going to be a grandad, he cried tears of joy. He then woke my mil up who was so happy and made me eat a sweet treat before I left for work. I was late to work that morning. We then told my family as we got to Manchester and both parents cried. My brother was jumping up and down like a loon.

The second time I was peeing lots whilst getting lunch ready and kept asking dh to keep an eye on dd. He mentioned that I was peeing a lot and I ran to take a test. He came to call me for lunch and I told him that he had scored. Our football teams were playing and he got confused till I showed him the test. He was super happy, I cried not so happy tears as dd was only 6 months old and I couldn't understand how it had happened as was on the pill.

The third time I had been out to an early dinner for bil's birthday and felt the kebabs smelt less than appealing. Everyone else was munching happily. I bought a test and tested early hours of xmas eve and got a positive 6 days before my period. Dh was sleeping and I woke him up. He said yay, kissed me and fell back asleep. In the morning he woke up and I thought he might have thought he was dreaming, no he remembered and got up early to offer extra prayers and thanks for our new blessing.

My first was long before you could buy tests, but since there was more than the very obvious sign, so that I knew quite early on, I was very excited when I told him.

Dh’s reaction was unexcited and unemotional to say the least - told me to wait and see until I could have a proper test - still some weeks away.

I was upset at the time but he turned out to be such a lovely dad, I forgave him long ago.

Such lovely stories!
My period was around a week late after coming back from holiday, I kept getting dizzy spells and had felt pretty nauseous the night before.
Decided to get a pregnancy test after work on a whim, I didn't even think about it being positive after 7 years of trying.
Got home went to the loo and it came back positive, I hadn't even told DH I was doing a test.
Called him upstairs to tell him, he thought he'd done something wrong, shocked doesn't even begin to cover it!
DC is almost 2 now

For DS he was downstairs and I shouted him up to tell him.

We are trying again now and I already know I'm going to buy a big brother T-shirt for DS and just put it on him and see how long it takes for him to click. I'm going to do the same for my family too and just wait until one of them realises!

Congratulations op!
