Hi, wondering if anybody owns one and if so, can you vouch that it is actually comfortable a) as a single bed and b) as a double. Would not be used constantly but could be used for days/ weeks at a time sporadically if that makes sense. Thanks in advance.

We have one but it's got a normal mattress on it, not the doubled over one...

Its comfortable we had two single mattresses not a double, we got the more expensive ones so it was comfortable, stacked them on top of each other when using as a single.

We've got one, our 4 year old sleeps on it and he's comfortable enough, but I'm not sure I'd put an adult on it for more than a few nights, unless you buy a better mattress for it.

My son slept on it for years as a normal bed.

It’s absolutely fine as a single, but as a double I would suggest a mattress topper. It’s not bad but it is a bit thin and a topper makes it more comfy

CallmeAngelina · 18/01/2021 13:53

We used to have one for dd. I slept on it a few times - OK but not the best.
You'd definitely need a better mattress for it though.

Thecherryontheverytop · 18/01/2021 13:54

We have one, we got good quality mattresses and it's a pretty good bed. I wouldn't get the normal thin fold over mattresses with it.

Sprig1 · 18/01/2021 13:54

My son has one as his regular bed. He likes it. If I was going to use inevitable would buy better mattresses. It comes with horrid, sweaty foam things.

Ladyhelper · 18/01/2021 13:55

I had it as a normal bed for over a year and found it very comfortable - when open (single layer mattresses and when closed (doubled up mattresses). I like the large size and the fact that OP did not disturb me.

Now my DC has it.

picklemewalnuts · 18/01/2021 13:59

It depends which mattresses you choose- the bed itself is fine.

When you put two good single mattresses on it makes the day bed rather high for a single. If you have room to store a topper, get two thinner mattresses. If you have room to store a spare mattress behind it, then get thicker ones.

It's heavy- the wheels dented and tore our vinyl flooring- but it's versatile and works well.

nostaples · 18/01/2021 14:39

Ooh, thank you all. Can you get standard mattresses to fit it though?

IKEA mattresses will fit best- I think they are a touch longer than a standard mattress. Also they come in a range of clearly marked thicknesses so you know what you are getting!

sashh · 18/01/2021 14:59

I have one, only ever used as a single by my 80+ year old dad when he visits.

The only problem he has had is that he is used to a headboard and misses that.

I didn't get the most basic mattresses, but I didn't get the most expensive either.

A friend borrowed just the mattress when she had friends staying and had no problems.

Glittertwins · 18/01/2021 17:44

We have them in the DC's bedrooms. They both have the double up of the single mattresses for ease when converted to a double. Nobody has complained about them being uncomfortable.
The beds are not a standard size from what I remember with getting bedding to fit - I think they are a little narrower so standard mattresses would be too wide
