Ow! Trapped nerve. Any tips?

My shoulder blade has been niggling for a couple days, woke up this morning, reached out to pick up my book and the next thing I know I'm whimpering in pain having trapped a nerve in my shoulder (I think).
That was 6 hours ago. Since then, I've had 2 lots of ibuprofen and one of paracetamol and am no longer having contraction like waves of pain. However, the only comfortable position is on my side in bed wedged in this position with cushions & pillows. I'm beginning to need a wee but can't work out how to get out of bed. I'm also thirsty and getting hungry but the sips of water I have had to help the pills down caused me to scream and swallowing presses on the nerve... and drinking will lead to me needing to wee again.
From experience with back problems in the past, I need significantly stronger pain killers plus manipulation of the area. Acupuncture helped my back in the past. However, it's a Sunday and a pandemic. DH is shortly off to Boots to get whatever drugs he can for me over the counter as well as some more heat patches.
Any tips of how to get through today & tonight?

What were your back problems in the past? If it hurts to swallow, I think it might be more than a simple trapped nerve? Do you have any pain radiating down your arm, back, side, neck? Short term i would try ice packs and calling for medical advice.

Thanks for the reply.
My back problem was 15 years ago when I injured myself. After acupuncture and physio, it's never been a problem so I would be surprised if it is connected. I'm pretty convinced this is just a localised issue. The swallowing is simply because of the position I'm lying in.
I don't know what medical help I can get. 20 mins on hold to 111 listening to the message to hang up unless it's a medical emergency and I decided it wasn't an emergency.
It would be very helpful though to be able to move to get out of bed.

I feel you OP. I used to get one particular trapped nerve so badly I'd be bedbound.

Can you get through to 111 and get them to get you a valium prescription? It's the only thing that worked for me.

Ok. The swallowing thing is reassuring. Can you ice the area? Pack of frozen peas will work well

Where exactly is the pain? Nerves are very specific in the areas they operate. If you can work out which nerve it is, you can try googling some nerve glides for that nerve. They are gentle exercises/stretches that help to un stick nerves that have got hung up on another bit of the body.

The pain is right inside my shoulder blade if that make sense. I had no idea how connected that bit of my body was to everywhere else! I'm lying in a semi twisted position as it is the only comfortable one and just can't sit up but nor can I roll over. When I say "can't", it's because I'm screaming in pain. Not that I'm actually paralysed or anything.
I think that I might just have to go for it and get upright. I'm not sure I'm doing myself any good being in more or less the same position for 7 hours now. I won't be doing that just yet though as I can feel the ibuprofen wearing off and it's another hour before the next dose.

It might be damage inside your shoulder and not just a trapped nerve but you will need scans to confirm whats causing it. Can you support your arm and gently roll yourself onto your side and push up with your good arm. I had a torn rotator cuff which was excruciatingly painful. Can you wriggle your hands and fingers and move your neck and head. Any tingling, my little finger went numb. I would seek medical advice.
