Help! Did you love your new hybrid mattress straight away?

After doing lots of research we ordered the Otty pure mattress and we have slept on it for 3 nights and are still not loving it.

Did any of you buy one of these hybrid/bed in a box type mattresses and feel the love after a week or two? Or is it a case of 'when you know, you know'?

Weve got a new one ordered so following... the excitement never ends hey Grin

Mines a hybrid pocket sprung/latex (not a bed in a box) and it was bliss the first time I slept on it - I chose it because I fell asleep on it in the shop 😂

I'd say when you know you know, but depends what you had before too?

I’d say when you know, you know, too.

We had a mattress that we never liked. Every time either of us moved, it disturbed the other and our sleep was poor. It wasn’t cheap ,but we didn’t keep it for long. We got another Tempur mattress, a new generation one, that doesn’t get hot like the older ones. It was very pricy, but it’s worth it. Loved it straight away.

My friend has the non-bamboo and charcoal version of the same mattress and said it was wonderful from first sleep but she hated one of the other brands and sent it back (Eve). It's a shame I cant legally pop round and lay on hers to compare. Another friend recommended Eve, so it's horses for courses!

I know mattresses come down to personal preference and this one is glorious to laze about on in the day, we just can't sleep on it and we wake up all through the night. I'm still hopeful it might get a bit more springy in the next few days.

We had a cheapo (about £200) sprung one with a thin layer of supposedly memory foam on top before, but want something decent to last this time

What did you go for @Notashandyta?

@DialsMavis just wondering if you got used to your otty mattress? Do you find it comfy now? We've just bought an Otty - but finding it too firm at the moment and it's given me back ache!

DialsMavis · 07/02/2021 11:47

We are still not in love with with it to be honest, it's just O.K. I contacted Otty and they said give it 30-40 nights, we think we might try Simba, but still trying to love Otty.
Sorry to hear that you are also not that keen

Ours took a little while to soften up a bit (it's an Otty) and lose the stink but it's bloody amazing now - my only gripe is I don't get to spend enough quality time with it.

TheChosenTwo · 07/02/2021 11:53

We bought either a simba or a caspa a couple of years ago (can’t remember now, but the brand is totally irrelevant really I think as it’s such a personal choice), hated it for about 10 nights and considered sending it back. But persevered and now we love it. I think we were just used our (incredibly) old, lumpy, broken springed mattress. The new one felt firm but so so hot, my legs had sweat over them for a few nights.
And then almost overnight it because mega comfortable.
It’s hard choosing a new mattress, we didn’t even try any before buying one, just had to order straight away!

We got an Emma and have never really liked it. They told up some give it 30-60 days, then they persuaded us to try it with an additional layer that they supplied for free. In the end they wore us down. It’s now been over a year and it’s OK but not great. I think we will change it within the next year, but it seems like such a waste.

Each side saggs in the night, so by morning it’s like we are each lying in a ditch with a higher, hard ridge between us. It’s a relatively comfy ditch, but still a ditch.

I wish we had gone with the same type of IKEA mattress that we later got for our sons bed, because each of us can lie on that one and immediately feel really comfortable.

I think it’s something where you should go with your first instinct and not try to tough it out.

We had an Otty. Didn't really get on with it so sent it back under the guarantee. We then got a Rem-fit and got on much better with that so kept it.
