Recommend me a car

I currently own a Toyota Yaris (manual/petrol) and VW Sharan (auto/diesel). 3 kids, two of whom are 6ft 1with long legs.

Due to the ULEZ expansion I need to trade in the Sharan as I will not be able to cross the North Circular from October. My youngest will be heading to university in September so it will be just me at home for the forseeable future though we will all be travelling in the same car on numerous ocasions therefore it has to be able to fit everyone. I will be holding on to the Yaris for now as two of the children will continue to drive it.

I am looking for an automatic (non diesel) to replace the Sharan. Would be greatful for suggestions a to what would be worth looking at. Any new car will need to be high as I have problems sitting low down. I am looking for new or up to 2 years old. Possibly slightly older if in very good condition.

We just bought a Toyota rav 4 hybrid. We figured cars will be electric soon enough, so we'd better start looking into that kind of thing (we also have a fully electric car as a smaller run around). The boot space is less than our previous car, but still not bad but the plus is that there is leg room for growing kids. It's an automatic and kicked into electric mode when you're going under 40moh usually

*kicks, not kicked.

I have a Kia Niro hybrid, drives lovely and my very tall DH and two over 6 foot children fit fine in the back.

Skoda Yeti?
Kia Sportage?

I have a Vauxhall Mokka. It replaced my vw up as like you Op I needed something higher. It’s a great car nice height and good size and great on fuel too.

Could you go to being a one car household with one going to university? Mention of the North Circular suggests you live in London where public transport is plentiful, much much more than the rest of the country.

We've have discussed being a one car household and it is certainly a possibility for the future. It isn't practical at the moment. Transport in to town is feasible but we go all over London and public transport isn't always convenient.

Does anyone have a Tiguan? I was looking at the VW website last night and quite like the look of it.

The Yeti looks interesting as does the Mokka. I'd forgotten about the Sportage. The Rav 4 was already on my list. We were looked at the Niro last night as well.

I can't wait for the show rooms to re-open. I'm quite looking forward to test driving all of the above.

I think the Yeti isn't as big as it looks, in a good way. It looks the size of an SUV but is actually a bit smaller, but offers good space for its size.
I think the Sportage is longer and looks like it should be roomier than it actually is.
The last time I talked to the mechanic at our local garage, he said he was impressed with the condition of the Sportage's he'd seen.

I have a Tiguan, OP.

I am the biggest fan of it, it's my favourite car to date. Any questions feel free to ask :) couldn't recommend it enough.
