Garden Trampoline - plum = £££

NoTeaForMe · 15/01/2021 10:32

Is there a reason why plum trampolines are more expensive than other brands? Are they a lot better? Any recommendations?
NB I realise that some people disagree with trampolines in the garden and I’m taking that on board.

We had a plum one. We bought it when dd was three and got rid of it last year when she was 13. We did dismantle it and put it in the shed over winter but I'm not sure a cheaper one would have lasted 10 years.

Thank you.
Anyone else any experience?

We’ve had a plum one for maybe 8 years and it’s still in great condition, we’ve replaced the net and the pad around the springs as they were looking worn and were torn in places but the bed of the trampoline and the springs are perfect.

Any experiences of cheaper ones in comparison? There’s quite a price difference. Thanks.

The one we’ve got isn’t plum and it’s dead after 4 years.

Our climbing frame is plum and it’s sturdy as anything.

I won ours about 10 years ago. It's stayed outside in all weathers and has to put up with ds kicking his football on it and bouncing off the safety net. I did replace the safety net and pad round the strings about 3 years ago, but other than that it looks pretty good. Little bit of rust on one of the posts, and that's about it.

It's a Jumpking, I think, but definitely not a Plum.

DeltaAlphaDelta · 16/01/2021 21:27

We had a cheaper one which lasted 2 years. We bought a plum one which lasted about 8 years. we've bought other plum products and they've lasted really well (we have a sand pit frame thats about 12 years old and now forms part of a rockery and still solid.

HazyJuly · 16/01/2021 21:31

We have a big TP which is 20 years old and still going strong, it takes an adult weight and has been part of our family for such a long time and such happy memories.
Stays out all year round in the North

Thanks for all the information so far.

I have realised the best place for a trampoline in our garden (so it’s not next to a neighbours fence or too near our house) is under a cherry blossom tree. Is that a terrible idea? Should we not get one? thanks.

Thanks all for this. I have looked at the 8ft Plum trampoline. It says the weight limit is 75kg?! Is this right? So my husband and I can’t really go on it? I know it’s for the children but thought we could have the odd bounce with them?

I bought a plum one for my eldest child’s 7th bday, replaced the netting twice and the surround but that was due to heavy use and one child deliberately tearing it, it’s still going strong... she will be 16 soon... it has had a lot of use and we’ve kept it for the youngest so they hold their value.

Toocold · 26/02/2021 13:45

I think it is a 10ft one... I’m a lot more than 75kg and I’ve been on it.

Toocold · 26/02/2021 13:46

When I saw surround I mean padding.

Toocold · 26/02/2021 13:46

Sorry me again! It’s under a tree always has been and we’ve never taken it down.

RMRM · 26/02/2021 13:51

If you put it under a tree, you may be constantly having to clean it, depending on how popular the tree is with the birds.

Ginius · 26/02/2021 13:56

We don't have a plum, but I can recommend zero gravity - www.zerogravitytrampolines.com/

I think we have an 8 ft one, which I go on with both the boys, springs are still like new. Admittedly we've only had it a year, but it's been out throughout the winter and used pretty much every day, with no issues.

They go in and out of stock quickly, but once ordered the delivery was quick.

Ilovechoc12 · 26/02/2021 15:55

Make sure you buy a skirt .... so no one underneath goes under when someone bouncing on the top !!!!

We bought 14 foot Asda trampoline £230 - it’s brilliant got 4 children and I thought if it wore out I can replace easy - didn’t want the £1500 2k for a spring free trampoline 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I only let 2 children on it at a time as I hate head banging or accidents .... going strong 2 yrs later abs LOTS of use

Xxx

CatkinToadflax · 26/02/2021 16:47

Our original one was £99 from Asda (Jump King I think?) and was fine for 4 years until our very overenthusiastic Labrador puppy ate it. Hmm Once she’d got a bit older and less silly we bought a direct replacement. We’ve had the ‘new’ one two years and it’s still going strong.

LunchWithAGruffalo · 26/02/2021 18:54

Ours is a TP one which we've had for about 8 years now. Looks a bit scruffy now its faded, but nothing major. At the time thier weight limits seemed a bit higher, DH and I wanted to be able to gave a go without worrying Blush

It's under a cherry tree, the kids used to love jumping and all the fallen blossom flying up. We've found it does need sweeping up on a dry day, otherwise the blossom sticks and gets a bit smelly as it starts to rot. Leaves are less of an issue, we still sweep them so the kids can bounce but they don't stick so quickly.
