Any dentists around? Extracting a broken tooth question

I have been hanging onto a molar that needs to come out at some point and has got quite loose but my dentist has been happy for it to stay put as long as possible. Tonight a big chunk has broken off. So now I will need to get it out but I am worried that this will be difficult if its already broken. So is this going to be as horrendous as I think?

It's not painful so far, but presumably this still warrants an emergency appointment?

And I have swallowed the broken bit because I thought it was a chip so am now mildly panicking about have something with a sharp edge transiting my system.

Someone reassure me please!

If it's loose it would normally be straightforward to remove.
Call you practice and see what they suggest, Dentistry is classified as an essential service so open for business. They may ask if you can get a photograph so they can assess and prioritise it to start with.
If you were eating it and swallowed it, the broken bit will pass through you without too much trouble.

Had a similar situation in proper lockdown last year. Was taken out as classed as emergency.
