6mo cries and cries before naps

My 6mo DD is crying before all her daytime naps at the moment and proving very difficult to settle. I was wondering if anyone had any advice about how to help her naps begin more peacefully?

At night she is an excellent sleeper. She has about 13 hours with two feeds. After her evening bath she is usually drowsy and goes down straight away, sometimes with a bit of a grizzle but nothing major.

For day time naps it's a real contrast. She hates being put down for them. I have been trying darkening the room and doing a peaceful routine before each nap but to no avail. She just sobs and sobs. She is never outwardly tired or drowsy during the day so this 'put her down drowsy but awake' suggestion doesn't work in the day! Though I know she is in fact tired and in need of a nap because after half an hour or so she does fall asleep.

Day time awake windows are 2 hours apart from the last one, and she is currently having 3 naps. She is being weaned and currently has lunch. She is bottle feeding.

If anyone can advise I'd be so grateful!! 🙏🙏

Have you tried dropping two naps a day rather than three if she settles after half an hour perhaps this will space them out a bit more and she may have two later but long naps? I know on average at 6mnths they need three naps but she is sleeping longer than average at night?

Yes she is sleeping long at night @Dimpous

I wondered about going to two naps as well, but was warned off due to her age... it's worth thinking about though.

I agree with dropping a nap, she probably just isn’t tired enough for 3, esp if she is sleeping well at night.
