Anywhere we go he wants to walk but then refuses walking half way back. Cries all the time he is in buggy if i force it.
Was thinking of push along trike but is he getting too old?
He can scoot well but not well enough for roads around here main roads everywhere etc. Any recommendations or suggestions welcome

Bribery? Is he too big for a backpack?

Ohalrightthen · 11/01/2021 21:38

What happens if you don't take the pram? Or just don't go so far?

APipkinOfPepper · 11/01/2021 21:39

Rucksack? Just let him walk (and maybe don’t go quite as far?)

In must admit I used to pop them back in buggy , crying or not and encourage them to understand that either they walked nicely or went in the buggy. My middle child was a bit of a handful and we had reins but they were happy to walk.

I have a lillebaby carrier and can still back carry my 5 year old daughter on longer walks or when she's tired and lazy!

Lead thing for scooter so you can hold on to him whilst he scoots on the road

hemhem · 11/01/2021 21:42

Riding on your shoulders? Piggy back? Toddler carrier/wrap e.g. Boba4G or Tula? Or a hiking style child carrier?

minipie · 11/01/2021 21:43

Scooter with a strap which you hold. Or let him use scooter normally on quieter roads (teaching him the key rules of stop at roads, stop at corners and stop whenever I say stop) and you hold it when approaching any big roads.

Buggy with buggyboard - he rides on the buggyboard, the buggy itself is kind of pointless Grin

AliceThroughTheLookingGlass · 11/01/2021 21:44

We use a buggy board. It clips onto the buggy and when they're too tired for walking but refusing to sit they can stand on the buggy board. It's more exciting than sitting in the buggy and we can still chuck whatever we need in the buggy which is sometimes more practical than carrying a heavy rucksack (we also have a backpack carrier, but this can have the same issues as the buggy as they're constrained)

We had a hiking toddler carrier which was amazing. Used it until DS2 was about 4. It meant that spare clothing, drinks etc for long walks was on my on DH’s back but DC could be popped in once pooped. I have a splendid photo of DH with DS1 aged 4 in this thing and DS1, about 6 months, strapped to his front.

I just took the pushchair and pushed it empty until they refused to walk or didn't stick with the rules and then they went in the pushchair.

I had a bugaboo frog which was an absolute doddle to push and steer one hand though empty or full which made that a whole lot easier!

Cargo bike!

fiorentina · 11/01/2021 21:57

At that age we had scooter with a strap. Worked well.

This. Especially if you've a bus to catch.
