DALMATAIN101 · 11/02/2021 21:14

Finally

It's the big pre op day in the morning 🙈
Hardly slept a wink all week 😴 and my eyes are stinging with tiredness.

My surgery date is 16th February so 4 days of self isolation and the Ross hall at 2pm .
Safe to say the fear has now set in .

Up until now this has dragged on for 17 months now and is right now going a tiny bit to quick for me .

Anyway I've been booked for a total laparoscopic hysterectomy, have any of u ladies had this done ? Im sure my fear is how many scars are there ? 1? 2 ? 3? More ?

Thanks again ladies ❤

I had mine done laparoscopically and had 3 cuts I think. It was done as day surgery which was pretty scary but I got through it and never looked back.

Youmeanyouvelostyourkey · 14/02/2021 14:54

Hope it goes well. I'm now booked in for Mar 1. Please let us know how you get on

DALMATAIN101 · 14/02/2021 15:48

Hey ladies

Good news 👏

I finally had the operation yesterday afternoon 🙌, hallelujah 🙌
I've slept on and off pretty much ever since ,
Nurses and staff are amazing at everything they do , even though they've just woke me up again lol ,

Really don't know why I worried so much 😕
Although I havnt moved from the spot they put me in as yet .

I sure won't be regretting this one that's for sure £6245 later and worth every single penny so far .

Huge thank you to all you wonderful ladies for all your knowledge and support ❤

I'm so glad you have had your surgery now.

I wish you a speedy recovery.

Youmeanyouvelostyourkey · 20/02/2021 00:16

How are you feeling now?

RememberLupeVelez · 20/02/2021 03:17

Sounds like money really well spent!
I had a keyhole hysterectomy last summer after the discovery of abnormal cells. I was referred from gynae dept at local hospital to the oncology department at a big London hospital. From the first hysteroscopy in mid May to the operation in the first week of August it was less than three months which was pretty speedy in the midst of a pandemic. Felt like a really long wait for the results of the biopsy but luckily I didn't need further treatment.
The incisions are tiny and should heal really quickly. The worst thing is that the glue they put over them dries out and by week three it's like having tiny little shards in your belly button!

Doing the blood thinning jabs in your abdomen is a bit weird at first but you get used to it.
Finally I did find it useful to do the recommended exercises.
Best of luck..hope the recuperation goes well...life should be so much better for you very soon!

Thank you for all your replies,

My surgery was done on Tuesday past , I was kept in for 3 nights so just got home yesterday,

Seems a head injury I had a number of years ago had some effect on my ability to walk properly after the anaesthetic,

I'm home with a couple of walking sticks to aid with my balance .
Back to the main point of surgery , all has gone as expected and although I'm in a bit of discomfort, I can safely say it has been worth every single penny I spent 😀

I'm planning on making the most of all the fussing going on around me atm and I will be up on my feet before I know it ,

Your help and persuasion has helped immensely xxx

How are you now Dalmatain? I may be having a hysterectomy next week (everything's up the air currently) and would be interested in how your recovery is going?

DALMATAIN101 · 02/03/2021 19:59

TheTurnOfTheScrew, that me at 2 weeks since having the operation done , im no longer taking pain killers , it was a slow beginning getting used to things but I feel so much better now ,
If anything I just feel uncomfortable a lot and need to move around some .
Having adhd is not helping the recovery in the least , I am desperate to run a marathon before I can even walk 😅
I have my 1st follow up appointment on March 9th but as far as I know its just to check wounds are OK.
I am sooooo happy that it's all over and done now , it has totally changed my way of thinking 🤔

Good luck and all the very best for your turn 👍
You will also do superbly ❤

thank you for replying! I'm pleased that you're really happy that you made the best decision. I hope your recovery continues smoothly.

Milomonster · 04/03/2021 12:52

Bloody great (pardon the pun) news!! I followed your post. I hope your recovery goes well!! Will you be on any hormone treatment?

DALMATAIN101 · 04/03/2021 13:05

Turnofthescrew definitely best decision of my life , if only they'd listened after the birth of my 1st child that I would never ever put myself through childbirth ever again ,
I'd have done this 19 years ago 😄

OP posts:
DALMATAIN101 · 04/03/2021 13:08

Milomonster

Believe it or not the doctor questioned why I had been put on hrt for over 12 months and said I'd to come off it straight away !
I still have my ovaries so still producing my own hormones 😄

Wether or not thats a good thing then I guess time will tell , 16 days done already 🙈
