Awaiting a Coronavirus test dilemma

Apologies for not posting in Coronavirus section, I've hidden it & can't refind it

Only two of us in house, one has had fever & fatigue with aches & pains. Whilst you're waiting for the test + result, what contact do you have with the outside world?

Would you leave stuff in the porch to be collected by other people? What's the risk of transmission?

We've been in hard lockdown since Spring, as I have a million chronic illnesses & I'm probably over-cautious.

I believe that if you have symptoms, you can't leave the house at all except to get a test. Not even for exercise. That's what I took from the guidelines I looked up while I was waiting for my (thankfully negative) test results. My DP, who had no symptoms walked the dog but that was the only escape any of us had from the house.

Only if it can be quarantined in the porch for 72 hours.

Agree with previous posters. You must self-isolate and you cannot leave the house for any other reason than getting a test

Sorry just re-read that you meant leave things in your porch. I'm assuming that would be OK, but just let whoever it is collecting know that you have symptoms and they can then choose to wear gloves, remember to sanitise their hands etc just in case.

Isolation until you get the results.

I’d leave a note for deliveries to be left someplace safe.

You need to isolate.

If one is positive the other will have to isolate 10 days as well even if negative.

My daughter and her boyfriend worked with someone positive and they both had negative tests but had to isolate for 14 days (before the rules changed to 10).

I should have laid it out clearer, to explain it's just about collecting stuff from our house, from the porch. I was thinking about whether we needed to follow the 72 hour rule.

Ironically, I've been pretty much bedbound since a flu virus 7 years ago & partner is my carer, so we're pretty much already in isolation full time anyway

We've been super careful, so it might not be the C, but what about grocery deliveries arriving this week? They're normally left in the porch to be moved in anyway by masked partner, but is there anything extra we should do?

I would isolate stuff that is coming out of your house, or just wait. I wouldn’t worry any more than usual about stuff coming in.

I’ve been dropping off food for a friend while he waits for a test result. I’ve asked that he doesn’t return the containers until after the result.
