How many secondary schools are offering a full timetable of lessons?

I want to get an idea of what other schools are doing.

Dd's school offered no teaching during the summer.

Now they seem to be doing a mix of live lessons and 'non contact' lessons. These non contact lessons consist of work being set for students to complete.

They say they need to strike a balance between live lessons and non contact lessons but I'm not sure why. Can any teachers explain please?

@neurologicallyspeaking
Yes her GCSEs have been cancelled. It's a national decision that has been taken already. Schools still teaching though as will need to do teacher assessment. Unless she does iGCSE which is taking place internationally and no U.K. decision confirmed yet.

Wow. You really think I don't know what is happening with my own daughter's education? The rudeness and assumption of some people on this board is astounding.
Yes, she is taking state school iGCSE, yes I missed the 'i' out before you can pull me up on that too. But they are just referred to as GCSEs here.

Dd's local high school she has her full schedule of classes online (year 11) with scheduled lunch break.
Only think missing is PE, so we went for a a hilly walk.

Would hate for a less well-informed parent to be confused about GCSEs and iGCSEs

I found this thread on Twitter aimed at teachers using Teams. A few tips in there.

DD is year 7 in a state grammar.

Pupils have to follow their usual timetable, starting every morning with registration with the form tutor. After that they do their normal lessons, seems to be a mixture of some live full lessons, some partially
live with work set for rest of that lesson time, and others with work assigned via the school system. There is also homework set as usual.

I'm impressed with all this, and pleased that the curriculum and learning are continuing. However DD is starting to get a bit stressed, finding it hard sometimes to complete all the lesson work, as everything takes longer, so there's less time to do it all, and then she's catching up, and doing homework. She was loving high school in her first term, so this is a poor substitute, but I'm very appreciative of the massive amount of effort from the teachers and school.
