If so what have you got?

We have had so many things go wrong with ours and are about to get the limestone tiling taken up and replaced (unstable sub floor) with a new floor. 2 DC and 1 big dog, so needs to be easily maintained and cleaned.

It's really expensive to have fitted (Amtico) - there's a lot involved, they have to check damp proof membrane, then it's levelled with screed. I remember JL were a bit more expensive than somewhere else, but then it turned out the cheaper quote didn't use the proper Amtico adhesive etc.

I think it doubles the price psm more or less.

Polyflor in a wood effect. You cannot see dirt, it’s marvellous.

we have wood effect ceramic flooring with underfloor heating. I love it. Easy to clean with steam mop.

We have had terracotta tiles for 20 plus years, (They were in place when we bought the house) they look just the same. Mind you we have lost so many glasses to it, sometimes I dream of a nice cushiony vinyl.

@Iceroadtruckingextremefishing and @Stumpedasatree yep, our robo vac goes over it daily and it's easy to mop. We've only had it down a year but no problems so far, and I love the look!

Stumpedasatree · 13/01/2021 10:52

Sounds good!! As does the hard wearing aspect.

Stone slabs with underfloor heating.

Things break when they fall on the floor, but very easy to maintain in a busy household. Dust and dirt rarely show and we don’t worry about spills

I have Karndean in oak. It looks exactly the same as when it was laid 6 years ago and we have 3 children, a dog, cat and very outdoorsy (muddy) lifestyle.

Its warm and comfortable underfoot and softens noise. The other thing I really like is the planks are completely flush to each other so there are no crevices for bits to get in.

We had a flood a few days after it was fitted and there was no damage. We had it fitted by a registered Karndean fitter which was expensive but completely worth it.

We have Amtico. I like the look and the ease of cleaning but will definitely not be putting it in again. Fades with sunlight, splits and sometimes raises up with heat from sunlight. We are south facing so it does get hot.

If you do go with LVT, make sure you have it professionally fitted! We didn’t and it means we have no claims to make on the splitting etc.

Amtico here. Looks like posh wood. I mop/steam mop it after hoovering. The dog has not managed to make any impact on it! I've dropped a few sharp things and they don't make a mark in it.

Sorry to hijack the thread but does anyone have polished concrete floors? With underfloor heating?
We saw it on a property renovation programme recently and DH wants to install it when we build an extension, but I'm not sure. I think it might look very industrial, which would be great if that was the look we were planning but it won't be.
