What dead animal is this (photo, don’t open if squeamish)

I saw this on a walk today and couldn’t work out what it is. If I’d turned the head the right way up, I’m sure it would have been obvious but I didn’t feel like doing that.
It’s not red enough to be a fox, but I don’t think the jaw is the right shape for a badger and I think badgers noses are more black.
Any ideas? Only the head and a strip of its fur remained so no clues from the body

Another vote for dog, I'm sorry to say. Poor thing.
I wouldn't have been able to turn the head around either (although I'm sure DH wouldn't have been able to resist). Wonder what happened..

I think it's a badger with a broken jaw

My DH is very knowledgeable about nature stuff and says that is a Badger - 100%, a bit of a old, rough one but a Badger for sure

I wonder what animal would kill a badger? Although I supposed it may have died and then been eaten but it’s obviously been ripped apart

Dogs would do that. Please report the body.

Although looking at it there is not much blood on the fur so maybe it died and then was scavenged?

If unsure but possibly a dog please report to the dog warden or take to a vet. They will scan for a microchip if dog, it might just put some poor family/person at peace.
