Things that aren't suitable for their main purpose (not politicians)

My toaster blew up (maybe exaggerating slightly, but I had to buy a new one). I decided to go for a 2 slice to save cupboard space. I've bought one from Tesco, you can't fit a slice of bread in, either way round. I've been and bought a Tesco brand loaf to check and no, it doesn't fit unless you want an inch of warm untoasted bread at the top or bottom. It also doesn't fit a sliced fruit teacake, so I can't work out what it's actually good for!

So, have you bought anything recently that just doesn't do what it's meant to? Cheer me up while I research better toasters...

DM has one of those type of toasters. You have to turn the bread upside down half way through. She only has the really small, thin slices of bread too. No way would my normal sized extra thick slices fit in it.

It's crazy, wish I'd kept the receipt...

My toaster does that; I cut the slices in half and toast the halves separately. The only bread I've found that fits is slices from the Warburtons 400g Toastie loaf.

DH brought child proof straps to stop DS messing around with the washing machine. Two days later DS figured out how to undo the strap and that was the end of that

If it's not fit for purpose I think you are allowed bring it back without a receipt.
I would - with a pack of Tesco bread with me - so the manager could see it's not fit for purpose.

The ones with a rack on top help matters. They allow you to toast a bun or whatever doesn't fit in.

I thought the rack on top was meant to be for warming things like croissants - can you toast on them?
