Carpet that isn't grey but won't look like shit? Anyone?

I have toddlers and dogs. I don't really want grey carpet. I want a nice light carpet that will contrast with our oak features. I want one of these. But all I keep hearing is how much I'll regret it!

Is there no other choice but grey? I'm sad!

I don't know what your budget is but I have this on stairs and landings - very forgiving of spillage & a range of colours - also meant to be for areas of heavy wear so won't pile etc. Cleans well ( well I had mine cleaned a few months ago ) www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-partners-lakeland-check-herdwick-carpet/scafell/p5065431 - the check thing doesn't show as much once down.

It actually looks a bit darker in real life. Wears really well.
