Buying something second hand that arrives not as described

Got some bottles - ad said ‘used once. As new condition’
Photo looked fine too
They’ve arrived and are dirty milk residue so not even washed 😱 tried to go onto the account but getting no response so have emailed the selling site.
Why do people do this ?

Facebook? I wouldn't buy from there...it's too easy to get past the rules which on Ebay can't be ignored.

People do it because they're dirty and lazy.

It was shpock I’ve emailed them but tbh think I’ll just have to write it off and put it down to experience it’s just annoying

@Givemeabreak88

Why would you buy second hand bottles
Because they said as new condition and was much cheaper to get them that way than new - plus not easy to get out so getting them posted was convenient. I like to buy stuff secondhand where I can as it’s better for the environment as well

I just think when you don’t know what kind of person they are coming from and what their hygiene is like and if they are dirty/grubby, which I guess has been the case here.

I’ve noticed a few people selling things that they say “needs a clean” I don’t understand why people don’t clean things before selling.

Woodenhearted · 08/01/2021 12:22

The photos looked fine (I now think they were not the same items in the photo) and it’s said used once condition as new

I'm a big fan of buying second hand where I can but baby bottles is probably one of the few things I would definitely buy new. Not entirely sure I could articulate exactly why though, just an ick feeling 🤷🏼‍♀️
I suspect you might just have to chalk it up to experience & buy more.

Woodenhearted · 08/01/2021 12:23

I just thought as they looked fine and said as new I could give then a wash and sterilise

Maybe they were only used once and just not washed after that occasion 😬🤢

I've bought second hand bottles and got some bargains. You can buy new teats but the plastic will be fine once it's been through the dishwasher on a high temp.
It's bizarre behaviour though I agree, why not wash it before you put it up for sale?

Woodenhearted · 08/01/2021 13:09

The picture looked like nice clean bottles too 🤔 I wasn’t expecting dirty ones to arrive maybe it was a mistake 🤷‍♀️

I don’t think it was a mistake, I mean how can you even sell bottles without washing them?! Even though you know the other person will do it when they get them anyway but surely it’s just normal to clean things before sending them. Like if you bought a top second hand you wouldn’t expect it to arrived unwashed and dirty. I would just let it go though as I don’t think shpock offers the same protection as eBay
