WWYD - charity stuff...?

We're moving house in a couple of weeks and I have an ever growing pile of good quality stuff that we'll never fit into our new (tiny) place. It's a mix of things but basically all stuff I'd normally give to a charity shop.

I've been putting it on local FB groups, freecycle, Gumtree, Olio etc., a few items have gone that way but there's tonnes left. I have two small kids, so selling on eBay and doing trips out for postage / to buy packing materials isn't ideal. I haven't been able to find any local charities that are accepting donations; and the deposit 'bins' for clothes / books etc. at the local supermarkets have all been overflowing for weeks.

What have I not thought of? The idea of putting all this into landfill makes me feel a bit queasy.

If it’s really good stuff then keep it until the charity shops re open
If it’s not really good stuff just take it to the dump

Can a friend take it / store it?
Women’s aid or food shelter?
Care home?
One local care home to us is still accepting good donations & storing stuff to sell at their regular market stall.
Give to someone locally to sell & make money from?

Yard sale? Put a few flyers up around your area, put a couple of tables outside and let people take whatever they’d like?

And a table in the front garden for the rest - it will probably go quickly for the kids stuff as all those kids on their daily exercise are toyshop deprived at the moment (parents may dislike you though).

Books to library or school art departments

Outside the house, sign "free to take"
I've been doing this recently with really good success, within a few hours, most if not all, items are gone.

Also list on shpock.

Our local tip / 'recycling centre' has areas for good quality secondhand furniture, clothes etc to be left, it is then sold on or donated to charity. I suspect this will vary area to area, and may be overflowing also but worth checking with your local council?

Thank you - some ideas here to try!
