Do you make a living from your hobby?

I’m thinking things like art/ card making etc.?

I’ve just taken up calligraphy. I’m decent but would never sell as I don’t have the confidence. But I looked on Etsy and it seems like everyone and their dog makes cards etc. Is it possible to actual make decent money?!

For some crafts if it, for some it definitely is not. Calligraphy should be as people often use calligraphers for wedding invites etc, and that’s one event where people are willing to pay. It’s also not intensively time consuming.

I couldn’t make a living selling knitting and crochet as it takes too long. I made a good hourly rate selling papercuts, and selling templates / kits is a good way to go as once they’re designed and sorted the time needed is limited.

I do. It took a couple of years (of practice/making gifts/craft stalls) before I felt confident to set up a fb selling page, then a little while longer to charge a fair price. I lost my main income at the start of pandemic so concentrated more on the ‘hobby’ income and I now make a living from it. I think it’s possible if your work is either great quality or original.

My "hobby" was/is gardening.I live in an area of large gardens + an elderly population.
I did a 6 month full time garden design course, taking in soil analysis, etc. and then started my own company.Even bought a 2nd hand g/house to raise my own plants. Funded all my US trips to visit family.
