COVID test but it’s a UTI - when can we go out?

Developed a nasty UTI on Monday - blood in urine, abdo pain, mild fever, chills, peeing fifty times a day etc . I’m prone to them - usually get 3 or 4 a year .

GP gave me antibiotics based on symptoms yesterday but said to report it as ?covid because of the temperature .

111 said I’ve to self isolate for ten days, regardless of any test results , and should continue to stay indoors as long as I have any symptoms .

Everyone else in house also has to stay indoors - didn’t say how long they have to .

COVID hub GP (that they asked to call me) said that’s nonsense, it’s obviously a UTI - do a swab and self isolate but in the very likely event that swab comes back negative then no worries.

Own GP said it’s low chance of covid - said she’s never yet heard of covid causing urinary tract symptoms, and I’ve not had any prolonged face to face contact with another person for a while (weeks - live rural and all shopping done online) but said go with what I’m told . Said it’s all legal requirements that you follow the advice given .

I’m self isolating as asked (easy to as I feel like hell) and have done a covid test but a bit confused re how long to self isolate for and when I can stop ...

I’m on the autistic spectrum, have OCD and in a bit of a panic that I might do the wrong thing .

I presume I’m best just staying in the house for the ten days just in case? I don’t need to work, I don’t need to shop, I won’t be socialising - and very definitely can’t afford any fines for making a mistake !!

It sounds like they have recommended a swab as you have a high temp and it's in line with guidance to test at every instance of a high temp, rather than thinking you have covid. Absolutely right to isolate, but if it comes back negative (which it likely will) then you don't need to continue to isolate. Others in the household can also stop isolating then, unless they develop symptoms. Hope you feel better soon.

If you get a negative test you don't have to self isolate. Go and get a test and see from there.

Thanks 😊. I’ve just ten minutes ago handed swab over to courier at the door so fingers crossed get the result soon !
