How can I store my Henry hoover so it won't get in the way?

I have a lovely henry hoover but don't have a cupboard to put it in, nor space to build one. I usually have it in a corner in the kitchen next to a narrow bookcase, but the bloody hose and metal pipe combo keep falling over and tripping us up. Are there any simple ways to stop it doing that?

Forgot to say, if anyone has any photos of or links to neat Henry storage solutions, that'd be great.

Did you not think about this before you bought it? Do you have a shed or Garage you can put it in ?

I used to have this problem. Luckily, our new Hetty has a built-in clip that holds everything in place for storage.

Maybe a simple wall clip like this will do the job

Bad day @LowlandLucky ?

LindaEllen · 07/01/2021 16:50

Same here. The little bastard seems determined to trip me up at every available opportunity.

If I put him away he's fine. If DSS does it, there's tools everywhere and nothing's clipped in. The poor sod could be dumped anywhere. Honestly, his eyes look sadder. But that could be because he's just witness the atrocities of a) a teenagers bedroom and b) the least caring handling known to man.

But I'm not allowed to mention that, as I should be grateful he's hoovered his room (and fuck all else) so I absolutely need to break my neck because heaven forbid he should have to put things where they actually go! (Or at least in the correct, least convenient corner - we have nowhere specific for him either!)

Boonlark · 07/01/2021 17:16

@LowlandLucky Oh dear, didn't you consider that maybe I'd moved house since buying my Henry? You must be having a bad day to want to snipe at a random stranger asking for help. Thanks

I'm going to look at getting a clip or something similar. How does the clip on the Hetty work? I think I have one but I figured it's just for the crevice attachment, or have I missed something?

They are awkward I just hide mine behind a chair 😂

Doilooklikeatourist · 07/01/2021 17:23

When I put Henry away , he is stashed neatly in the corner of the utility room , where there's a perfectly planned gap
He is a trip hazard at the moment as DH has stolen the hidey hole and there's a huge outdoor extension cable in there instead
Not good
Henry is huge when sprawled out at full length !

Boonlark · 07/01/2021 17:30

Ooh, I just Googled numatic nozzle clip and found out how to clip the nozzle to the back of Henry. I've ordered one and hopefully that'll sort it out. Thank you!

Ok first things first...... don't be fooled! Henry Hoover's are not lovely. They start off looking all eager to please with their big eyes, smile and friendly looks....and then they go on the TURN!

Refuse to pull along properly, or trip over their own wire - laying on their side until you go back and put them up again, or refuse to come round the corner banging up against the doorframe again and again, or the long wand bit comes apart while your trying to get up a bit of fluff, causing you to slip a disc .... and then you realize the eyes are really 'side eyes' sneering at your incompetent vacuuming skills.
However if you must keep the Evil Bugger.... I suggest winding the tube bit around him and tucking the end under the top handle and keep the long bit separate stored alongside.
Good luck, and close your bedroom door tight at night.... I wouldn't trust him!

Boonlark · 07/01/2021 17:39

Ooh good tip....Henry lives downstairs. And as we all know Henry can't climb stairs without help, so we should be safe Grin

Mine lives in a hall cupboard that has a handy metal rail sticking out from one wall so I loop it over that. I actually loathe the heavy awkward bastard but it works so I put up with it.

Twospaniels · 07/01/2021 17:51

I have an ottoman in the hall where we keep shoes and my vacuum lives in there too. I don’t have an understairs cupboard.

I moved house with my Hetty and was really stressed about this as there wasn't a cupboard. My solution was to move Hetty to the garage (never used). I now have Dustin the robot vacuum under a hostess trolley in the hall and a cordless Dyson nailed to the wall in the kitchen.

UpMySt · 07/01/2021 17:57

My sil stores it behind any bedroom door (mainly her own bedroom). She puts the pipe upright and the main body furthest away from the door hinge but resting toward the wall.

In a skip. Useless clunky bastard.
