Does tea tree oil work

...on fungal nail infections?

Had one for years, it doesn't bother me in the slightest but it is a bit unsightly.

I normally keep my toenails varnished, but with no gym/pool to go to for the foreseeable, thought I might get on with treating it.

I know you can get tablets, but I believe they're a bit harsh on your liver and personally, I'm not willing to sacrifice wine for perfect toenails.

Advice/experience very much appreciated!

No idea about tea tree oil, but the topical medicine you can get is very effective. You do need to apply it until the nail grows out, which is once a week for about 9 months, but it works well.

I used tea tree on mine and it eventually went away. The infection wasn't particularly bad but there was some thickness and yellowing starting to develop on one of my toes so I started using a drop of tea tea tree on it every night when I remembered and its pretty much back to normal about 6 months later.

Vicks works better. The petroleum jelly softens the nail and allows it to absorb more deeply, or something.

Yes tea tree oil works. Buy yourself a good one, because they are much more effective. If you look at the GC report from a reliable supplier, you're wanting the terpinen-4-ol content to be around 40%.
It can sometimes cause skin sensitizing when used neat, so dilute in a vegetable oil - up to 10 drops in 1 tsp vegetable oil.
Coconut oil is antibacterial and antifungal so that'll give it a double whammy.

Oshadhi is an excellent supplier if you're interested

Other antifungal oils are myrrh, oregano and thyme, though the last 2 make you smell like roast chicken 😂
