Do you have a Ring doorbell?

Can you please, step by step, tell me how you fit them?

Dh and I are very very DIY challenged and I’m trying to work out if I need to book the handyman in before I order one.

If it helps we have no current doorbell so no wiring already out there.

Thanks.

Wifi & battery powered Ring doorbell here. Charge it around once a mont I guess.

I have masonry drill. It took about 10 mins to install the casing (if that) and I did it myself. Buy a bloody drill! Grin

So Ring is a brand name not a verb. Ah.

This is the one I got, I got it on prime day so it was a good deal. It can be hardwired but I just charge the battery.

I can’t remember why I decided on the pro, but bought it a couple of years ago on Prime Day and made my mum give it to me as a Xmas present to sneak it into the house Grin

We had to send the peephole one back as our door was too thick for it to fit properly. In the end we got a non-wired model that is just stuck on outside same as any other wireless doorbell, and we have a couple of spare ring batteries (have other ring cameras too) and just swap them out when the app tells us.

I’d have preferred a wired model but our porch is all PVC so it would have involved ugly wires on view.

What is your front door made of?

I have the cheaper Ring and it came with a chime in a package from Amazon for £99.
It then went up to £120 at Prime day and Black Friday !

You could stick it with command onto a uPVC or composite door.

I don't think it would long last stick to a wooden door.

I drilled mine into my uPVC door because I hate the door and will change it eventually.
I didn't want to drill into my brick but that's just me.

If your house is on any sort of angle to your path, you need the Ring angle adjuster too. You stick/drill this on and then put your Ring bracket over it.

I didn't need the chime, we have an Alexa in most rooms but I wanted a simple upstairs door chime whilst Alexa alerts me in the kitchen as does my mobile. Not much use if I'm out and kids were upstairs. And I didn't want bedroom Alexas going off waking us up.

Do you have a drill?
I can talk you through it if you do.

I have a 2nd gen Ring wired doorbell. Installed it ourselves in a few minutes. We are semi-handy but not great. No handyman or electrician needed. Did need a masonry drill bit though to fit to the wall.

Was very straight forwards to install. Our only issue was getting the thing to share properly across multiple phones, but the support line fixed that.
