Does everyone in life want to own a house if they have kids?

I owned and now I rent. I have greater peace of mind where I am now than where I owned my house. Ideally I’d like to buy a home locally but the prices here are prohibitive.

I would think it prudent not to have children until you have a mortgaged property or rent with a housing association/council for reasons of stability and security.
