Slipper recommendations

Just that really! Apologies for the boring thread..
I spend ALOT of time in slippers.

I'm suffering from plantar fasciitis also, I am so sick of going through slippers - the current pair I brought at the start of dec, have already got holes are wearing.

I would love some that are comfortable and warm (happy to have lining etc),

that can withstand occasional trips to the outside bin or the patio (we have animals that sometimes need attention at daft times, and regularly use outside bin as the dogs would eat anything smelling even slightly of food if we put it in the kitchen bin)

Bootie slippers huge preference as makes walking up and down stairs less dangerous.

So, open to any recommendations of brands or especially links to good quality, hard-wearing, cosy slippers.

Cost not really a concern if they tick all the boxes and are made to last.

I feel terrible on an environmental level keep buying "cheap and fast!"

Thought now would be a great time to ask, as hopefully some of you have had slippers as Christmas gifts!

This thread is slightly old now so some of the suggestions may be out of date, but if you’ve landed here looking for high-quality, warm slippers, we’ve recently updated our best women’s slippers page with lots of great options rated by real Mumsnet users. We hope you find it useful. Flowers

Ugg boots. They last years and are really cosy.

RealisticSketch · 03/01/2021 23:15

Moshulu are great, well made, sole not too narrow and upper is well attached. Warm without making your feet sweaty as they are a natural breathable material. I've not had mine long but I think they are well made and will last.

AnitaHotdog · 03/01/2021 23:15

I have These slippers from Ciora and they're just lovely, lots of choice for a hard/soft sole and design.

Ugg Ansley. Sheepskin, hard sole, oh so comfortable (though I sized up), mine are 11 years old and now in tatters so am waiting for them to come back into stock.

JustAPassingFashion · 03/01/2021 23:20

Ugg slippers!
The wed site actually classes them as an outdoor shoe but mine only ever see outside if I'm popping to the bins Grin

hellololabells2019 · 03/01/2021 23:33

I have the Ansley. They are fabulous for winter wear.

PragmaticWench · 03/01/2021 23:36

Sheepers. Amazing. Or Shepherd.

UserX · 03/01/2021 23:38

So I have a pair of Birkenstock clogs that I can’t wear outside right now as it’s too wet & I’ve just cleaned them up to use as slippers. They are so awesome, so comfortable, I’m never going back. They do sheepskin ones if you don’t mind £££. I’ve also had a pair of romika that were really fab.

SoLongFurlough · 03/01/2021 23:56

If you have plantar fasciitis would you not need something with an insole?
I'm also looking for the holy grail OP...

marriednotdead · 04/01/2021 00:09

I have had several variants of these moshulu slippers since I discovered them a few years ago.
They hold my orthotics in perfectly, can cope with a bin run and are lovely and warm Smile

buckleten · 04/01/2021 00:19

I got a pair of Moshulu slippers for Christmas and they are wonderful! Super comfy and very robust soles.

Shamoo · 04/01/2021 00:36

Would definitely recommend mahabis if you are happy to invest. They have a base that can be removed, so you can go outside in them, clean the base, wash the slipper separately etc - ace!

Another vote for Ciora slippers. So cosy and brilliant quality. I’ve had mine for two years and they are still going strong. They make several styles including boot-type slippers (which I have). A friend admired them so I bought her a pair for Xmas 2019 and she absolutely loves them too.

Ouch44 · 04/01/2021 00:46

Fitflop slippers for plantar fasciitis have really helped me. Not boots though. We have really steep stairs and they are fine. Ugg's don't really have support.

Also stretch your foot up by the toes a few times a day. Really helps. And never go bare footed! More stretches on YouTube. Also write alphabet with your foot!!

Elouera · 04/01/2021 00:49

I have gone from suffering with daily pain, not sleeping and agony with FB to it suddenly going- not no apparent reason! I understand the pain!

I'd read multiple things about needing a support sole at ALL times, then others said birkenstokes, others fit flops! For slippers, I have 2 pairs. A basic slip on, and also a memory foam slipper I got from asda! Ugly as anything, but a sturdy sole you could wear outside and SO comfortable. I cant find them on their website now though, so maybe they were only last year, but very cheap (maybe £7) and feel supportive.

Sheepers

sunlight81 · 04/01/2021 01:07

Go to a podiatrist and get ur Plantar fasciitis sorted out long term. I have similar foot issues and now wear insoles in all shoes at all times.

If I go for periods without wearing them I get hip and back pain. Plus my arches really notice the insoles for the first 5 to 10mins.

The insoles will then dictate the type of shoe u can wear, but u may be best not wearing "slippers" but purchasing a regular pair of supportive and comfy shoes that are indoor use only.

I personally wear emu boots. They are similar to an ugg (but a little cheaper) very warm, with a sturdy enough sole and shoe structure to keep my feet secure.

littleblackdress26 · 04/01/2021 01:28

Sorel nakiska slippers - I have flat feet and googled what type of slipper is best. They are very comfy and supportive. They have sheepskin and an insole so you can remove and perhaps add orthotics if you prefer, although they are supportive already and they have a really good sole.

LookUponMyWorks · 04/01/2021 01:38

I've just bought a pair of Aus Wooli boot slippers with my Christmas money and they are divine. Good proper soles and so cosy!

@Shamoo they don't do the detachable soles any more😞 shame I liked them

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 26/01/2021 08:05

House boots from Celtic Sheepskin. Similar to Uggs but made in Cornwall - not in China or anywhere else - from U.K. sheepskins. You can wear them outside too. I’m on my 2nd pair (the first lasted ages) and I adore them.

farnworth · 30/01/2021 06:44

Have been wanting new slippers for a while, so read all the helpful suggestions above. Had never heard of Scottish company Ciora before, but ended up going with them. Love my new slippers!!

Ugg slippers - expensive but excellent.

applesandbananasandoranges · 30/01/2021 07:58

Shepherd of Sweden, saw them mentioned on another thread and hadn’t heard of the brand so looked them up and bought a pair. Utter luxury and comfort!

bananaboats · 30/01/2021 08:43

I got Ugg slippers for Christmas and have worn them every day since! Very cosy and hard sole so can pop out to the bin etc in them. They aren't a boot though they are the actual slipper ones so might not be what your looking for
