Where is the best place to buy tragus jewellery

I got my tragus pierced last week (I’m obviously not going to change the bar for quite a long time) and have been trying to find some nice jewellery that won’t look massive like the ball of the labret I got put in when pierced. Where did you get your jewellery from?

amazon

NotSoJollyChristmas · 03/01/2021 12:36

As I was cleaning the piercing last night the bloody ball fell off the piercing, I managed to get it back in but now I’m panicking it’s going to become infected or that I’ve put it on too tight Envy (not envy) so I’ll be going off to my piercer tomorrow to get them to check it out

Get yourself a pack of different sized spare balls from eBay.

I always found it a massive ballache to find decent tragus jewellery. I wanted a stud but they all seemed to do up at the back, which is basically impossible when the back is inside your ear. All the ones I bought off amazon were wrong size, impossible to do up etc. In the end I got a small hoop from tesco! Sainsbury's have some nice ones too. Don't necessarily look for tragus jewellery. Some nose or ear jewellery works.

I don’t know what gauge my piercing is to get replacement balls Blush

Please don't buy body jewellery from Amazon or Ebay. Visit a reputable piercer, they should have a huge range to choose from. Internally threaded or threadless titanium as a minimum up to solid gold.

All my pieces for example are guaranteed for life against manufacturer defects and will fit you properly. Not something you're getting from Amazon as generally reputable body jewellery companies only supply Piercers.

Once my ear piercings had all healed I've been using normal studs in all my hard to reach piercings since but my tip is to fold the posts 90 degrees and hook them through the holes and never use backs on them. (squeeze to tighten)
20 years on and the worst I've done is pull one out when it got stuck to my hat.

edin16 · 03/01/2021 13:47

Usually where you get them pierced will sell them. Also if you're worried about it now just call and ask to pop in and have it checked?
When I was struggling with mine (swelling) i went in and they changed the bar for a longer one free of charge.

NotSoJollyChristmas · 03/01/2021 13:56

@edin16 they’re shut on a Sunday x

Piercing studios is the only place I'd buy from, the place I go gets some really nice jewellery and will fit it for you too.

swapsicles · 03/01/2021 14:05

www.bodyjewelleryshop.com/
This is where I get mine from, pretty fast delivery too.
Always have spare ones too as it heals up fast and I struggled to put my piercing back after a day at work.
I now wear the clear ones with a skin tone end too it, not been spotted yet lol

In the nicest way possible all the jewellery on that site is garbage, its poor quality & not from reputable companies.

Also if you've no idea on gauge or length required then buying online is useless, I fit anything between 4mm & 10mm in length for a tragus and between 3 different gauges.

NotSoJollyChristmas · 03/01/2021 15:04

@TheBodyPiercer I didn’t realise you were a body piercer, thanks for the tips Smile

No problem at all, but yes I'd definitely recommend visiting a piercer. Visiting the safe piercing uk website can give you some info on what to look for in a piercer.

TurquoiseDragon · 03/01/2021 16:22

I've got titanium hoops in both tragus, as I don't plan on changing them. I checked with the piercer what gauge he'd pierced with when they were first done, got some nice hoops from the shop.

I'd initially had bars when they were first pierced, with a flat back because I wear hearing aids and needed to get them right into the ear canal, and a ball at the back wouldn't work. The hoops work even better, don't have any problems wearing hearing aids or headphones.

Brogues · 03/01/2021 18:58

not a piercer but you’ll probably have been pierced with a 1.2mm/16 G in a cartilage but possibly an 1.0 mm/18 G in which case the ball endings normally fit between the two as the thread size is close enough. You’ll be able to pick up a pack for £1 ish so no major outlay or you drop one down the plug hole! Search for Labret, Tragus or helix spare balls.

No you're def not a piercer! Grin

Brogues · 03/01/2021 20:14

Just my experience in having both sizes and the balls I have do fit both.

Mine comes from Broad Street Studio in Bath.

I have some LeRoi in at the moment. It's not cheap but Mike has some stunning jewellery for all tastes. I'm fairly understated so I have a tiny diamond in my nose and tiny diamond ends on my cartilage piercings

NotSoJollyChristmas · 03/01/2021 22:29

@TheBodyPiercer I’ve been cleaning my piercing with ear bus and salt water and I think the ear buds are why the ball fell off, could I stop using the earbuds and just soak with a shot glass full of salt water instead?

OP posts:
SlippersForFlippers · 04/01/2021 13:17

You could use cotton wool balls/pads. Soak in the water and place on piercing, for the inside cut the ball/pad smaller and roll a bit.
