I've just bought a Kindle Fire, but have no idea what to use it for

So my mum gave me some money for christmas and I got an argos voucher, so I clubbed them together and bought a Kindle Fire 8 HD. It's so pretty and shiny and new and exciting. But I now can't work out what to use it for, as my phone does everything that it does, and I've never had a tablet 🤔
I'm hoping I'll start making time to read. Although I have two books that I've had for a year, but never got round to reading, so I'm unsure as to how this would make me more inclined to read.

Any tips/suggestions as to what you all use yours for?

@sonjadog

The primary reason why I wanted to get mine was that I like reading in bed or lying on the sofa and my phone screen is a bit small for reading longer texts and if I use my laptop, it gives me elbow pain, so the Kindle seemed like a good option where I could still read as I wanted but without pain. I looked at getting an ipad, but the Kindle is a lot cheaper and really I just wanted it for reading stuff online or that I had downloaded from Amazon.
Thanks , yeah this was my main reason for buying this too, as it was bigger than a phone/not a laptop. I like the idea that I dont need to be propped up in bed to watch TV too 😀

@NeedWineNow

I use my Fire for internet browsing, watching Netflix or something else when husband is watching the football, Facebook, Mumsnet etc and I can't be bothered to get the laptop out.

I've got a Kindle Paperwhite for reading as there is glare off the screen on the Fire if reading outside in the sunshine.

This might sound daft, but I hadn't considered watching something on it while husband is watching something else- I usually just leave the room and watch a different TV 😅

Thanks for the suggestions from everyone. I've also just discovered I can speak to my son through his Alexa on it 😅😅

I have two Kindle Fires (8" and 10") and like them both.Do agree they are slow though! You get what you pay for and they don't compare to the far more expensive iPad. I rarely read (did before I had tablets!) but it is easy to borrow books from Amazon and buy music too. I use mine for browsing my catalogues, making payments to said catalogues. Mumsnetting, YouTube, online banking, buying things online from eBay, Etsy but mostly Amazon as it is so easy and we have Amazon Prime. I also have a few games on there. I'm sure there are many more uses but I'm not that smart at technology, I muddle along! The battery life can be short. I only use mine from 10.30 p.m. until 1.00 a.m. If I have forgotten to recharge I just use the tablet while it is plugged in. I had a different tablet before and hated it. I get on fine with the Kindle Fire.

We've just set up my Mum's new Fire today. Her very old iPad is dying, and whilst she wanted db and I to buy her a new iPad, we said we'd only make a contribution. She agreed to a Fire instead. For what she wants; the news, emails, reading and the weather, a Fire is fine.
