Are milk frothers worth it?

So sadly there is no way I can afford a fancy coffee machine atm, so I've been looking at other coffee gadgets and come across the milk frother - do these actually work, and do they improve your coffees? Are there any other gadgets I don't know about that can make the perfect coffee?

I clearly have nothing better to do this evening and take coffee very seriously.

Yes. It was my favourite purchase of last year, I love mine. I have a lavazza.

My first and only frothy oat milk latte when I get up is my favourite time of the day.

I drink my coffee black, however we have a coffee pod machine with a milk frother/heater and everyone else seems to love it. The DC also have a Hotel Chocolate velvetiser which also heats and foams (a bit).

Yes, definitely. I have a Lavazza too. It's saved me a fortune because I now resent paying £3/4 a go for a coffee. Lovely hot chocolate too.

I bought the white version of this (which cost ca £30) after its being recommended on here. It's been great. The only small downside is that you do have to clean it immediately after use, even before you've drunk your coffee.

We’ve got this one and find it much better than any of the electric frothers. 1.40mins in the microwave and then it’s ready!

I can’t justify a posh coffee maker....and a bit fearful it would me make me drink more!

I love mine. For hot milk, hot choc and coffee. It tastes different to microwaved milk for some reason too.

I bought this one for my teenager for Xmas. it was recommended on here in a Hotel Chocolat thread as a good alternative to the velvetiser.

I paid abut £26. Teenager loves it for hot chocolate- I had bought them a gift pack of different flavour ones. Only snag is it does seem to overflow.

We love ours! DH loves his lattes, I love a hot chocolate using it, and dd loves that it froths cold milk too, so it makes this best milkshakes!

I got an expensive one from DH and honestly no, we've not used it enough

Do you have bottle with a lid?

Put in milk. Shake. Then put in microwave for 30-40 seconds. Voila. Frothy milk without the pain of cleaning a milk frother whisk.

I have the Aldi one and it’s great. Makes hot chocolate taste like the ones from cafes.

The only thing I’d say is check the volume it takes, the Aldi one only takes half a mug full so you end up having to do it in two goes which is annoying.

We have this one too - much better than those hand held battery operated things

The hand helds are a waste of money. We were gifted a £50 Dualit one for our wedding a few years ago and it's fab, still going strong. I also make hot chocolate in it which works great!

I have an aldi device where you pour milk into it and it heats AND froths.

I also have a £1 asda milk frother handheld like the one you have linked too.

I just warm my milk in the microwave now and use my £1 frother and I much prefer it!

Yes they make them more like lattes. I use mine with my nespresso machine though so not sure if they would be the same with coffee made in other ways. I LOVE mine with hotel chocolat hot chocolate though, it serves well while I save up for a velvetiser!

Worth it, what the £2.99 they cost? I assume you mean the little spiral whisk things. I got one for making sauces, and incidentally they also froth milk up a little too.
