How long do you think I'll be waiting for non-emergency gallbladder removal?

I was referred for this last week, following a year of attacks. However, at this stage, and unless it becomes an emergency situation, this is very much elective surgery (as in, I want my gallbladder whipped out!)

I'm in West Yorks - has anyone any insight into NHS waiting times at the moment? I absolutely appreciate that I won't be a priority, but by the same token, I'm frightened to eat :-(

Have BUPA cover through work, so am wondering if this might be a better option?

I had mine out in 2020, 2 months after diagnosis and that was categorised as an emergency due to severe complications which were life threatening. Go to BUPA.

I have recently had a week in hospital with gall bladder infection and stones and was advised I was relatively high on the list however would still be at least a year. I too have BUPA cover, rang the the first day I was in hospital, spoke to private consultant the same day and have already had a zoom meeting and waiting for my date for op which should be in next months so worth doing private

In September I was really poorly and spent a week in hospital due to gall bladder root cause. High priority on the NHS list but they estimated 'weeks' roughly up to 12 with risk of return to A&e in between. Standard wait was a year.

Rang private, the following Friday had a consultation, surgery on the Monday and fully recovered a few weeks after.

My excess was £200. My main relief was to get it done before private hospitals have to support the NHS again with COVID.....

Deff go Bupa.

35 weeks, ish, given current waiting times.

If you have no comorbidities you may be seen quicker through that NHS contract with the independent sector. My hospital is in the position that patients with one or more preexisting conditions can only be operated on in our hospital and are not candidates for the private hospitals. With current backlogs and the risk of further covid related elective shutdowns this has created a health inequality that we didn't worry about previously

I've been waiting almost 7 years.. Don't even need it anymore! Haven't had an attack from 2016ish. Would have been most useful in 2014 when I was having 3 attacks a day Hmm

I went to A&E every time I had a flare up. I needed the morphine. I was living off 2 apples per day. I was waiting 4 months but eventually they took it out as emergency surgery after one of my A&E trips.

My dad has been told 18 months on NHs and around 3 months wait for private
