No one has a clue, least of all the government.

Starlightstarbright1 · 02/01/2021 19:11

They are in Scotland till the 18th at least, only open for children of keyworkers. Difficult to manage but at least we have had a few weeks notice!

Redlocks30 · 02/01/2021 19:15

No, I don’t think so.

PatchworkElmer · 02/01/2021 19:24

They’re currently opening in London aren’t they, despite school closures?

DennisTMenace · 02/01/2021 19:29

I think they might if all the schools close. They are usually much smaller than schools, kids don't travel there on their own e.g. mixing on the bus. So I can see wh the risk is probably lower that it will spread there.

problembottom · 02/01/2021 19:39

I’ve been wondering this myself. If primary schools shut I think they definitely will.

cantkeepgoing · 02/01/2021 19:44

I just read that Williamson said that nurseries were not necessary to close in London......

My London primary has already said there nursery will remain full open for all the kids that normally attend.

The rest of the school is only keyworker or vulnerable kids.

Jiggy16 · 02/01/2021 19:47

I had wondered about this, started my own thread about it (which got no responses lol) though it was about NI. I am going to keep my dc off nursery next week as I can't understand why they're in if its deemed too risky for p1 classes. Surely its not fair on the staff with 26 kids who can't socially distance? Plus my parents do pick ups and child mind 2 days a week and I don't think its fair to put greater risk on them also. What is the logic behind nurseries open but primary schools not?

NeverEnoughTea · 02/01/2021 20:44

It spreads easily among children (especially the new strain). Okay, they are unlikely to be unwell (or even exhibit symptoms) but the government are happy for them to spread it to nursery workers and their (the children’s) own families? It doesn’t make sense. We don’t have the option to take them out if we are working (employers wouldn’t take kindly to that) so have to accept that we are being exposed to a much higher level of risk than families of children literally just a few months older.
