What things have you let your children do to avoid a tantrum?

Inspired by someone else’s comment (I’ll let them post if they wish Grin), what silly thing have you done to stop your child having a tantrum.

The one I remember the most, is when dd was 2ish..and my SIL was getting married.

I packed a small pack up for her to snack on during the ceremony so she would be quiet. It worked lovely.

However, when it came to having photos, she point blank refused to let her of the lunchbox despite it being empty...

So there are beautiful photos of her in the wedding party, stubbornly clutching her lunchbox Grin

Many times I've walked to the supermarket with dd clutching one of her dolls pretending it's a real baby, put it sitting in the front of the trolley and talked to it like a real humanGrin to prevent her throwing a tantrum.
I also once ( it was a bad day, dd was wild and I was at breaking point) gave in and allowed her to take her ride-on on the journey to nursery.
We arrived at nursery 30 minutes late, both sobbing.

Ds did that...insisted on going on his ride on...but then got mad cos it took too long

I couldn’t decide which tantrum was worse...

Not a tantrum, but 9yo DS was inconsolable when it was time to go to bed on Christmas day, because he didn't want it to end Xmas Sad So I told him we would do a,mini Christmas in summer if he was still feeling sad by then. Worked a treat. Don't know if he'll remember....

If that was my child...they would bloody remember and would remind me every single day too

I'm being very careful not to mention it again... I could easily do another Christmas dinner and maybe a token gift. Hopefully he won't insist on a tree! Grin
