How Can I Get the Security Tag off and Item?

The security tag has been left off something I bought before Christmas.

Shop now closed under restrictions.

Can I remove it without damaging the fabric? It is a grey plastic one with a silver cone on the other side.

As long as its not one that sprays dye if it is tampered with, and you can see the spike, I'd have a go with som manly pliers from the shed!

Twobrews · 02/01/2021 12:35

Google it to see the best method for the type.
I managed to get one off in a hotel room by hitting it repeatedly with a shoe.

Twobrews · 02/01/2021 12:35

If it's a dye one you can put it in the freezer!

Also try a strong magnet . And another tip is to freeze the garment there pay freezing the ink

MalingeringMary · 02/01/2021 13:14

Yep, strong magnet. That's all that's in the shop when they remove them

If you have the receipt and any shop that sells clothes is still open, they might take it off for you. We have a shop that sells all sorts of things and is still open because they sell food and they would do this - only with the receipt though!

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 02/01/2021 13:47

I have the receipt but the shop is definitely closed.

How do I know if it has ink in it?

It's ridiculous - it's only a £2.50 tea towel!

Use two forks back to back as a lever.

CandyCaneLane0 · 02/01/2021 13:50

Fork and a small hacksaw

Hoppinggreen · 02/01/2021 13:51

Hacksaw and/or pliers

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 02/01/2021 14:02

I have done it: hammering the plastic bit til it disintegrated.

Thanks everyone.

Heavy duty magnet. If you have, or know anyone who has, magnetic locks on cupboards that should work.

RichTeaCheddars · 02/01/2021 14:31

Use a hacksaw
