Caring for toddler's curly hair

My toddler has quite curly, short hair. It goes into ringlets when just washed and air dried but is quite dry and prone to frizz. I don't want to use any of the adult products I use on myself on her hair, which is still quite fine and baby-hair like. Any suggestions for how I can make sure her hair is moisturised and in good condition, especially between washes? I wash her hair once a week with child's farm baby shampoo.

I found washing and conditioning DD's hair more regularly made it less frizzy, also My Little Coco curling custard is good and it smells lovely.

I've got a 4 year old with bum length (when wet) curls.

I get her hair wet with a spray bottle, then chuck on a load of leave in conditioner (Aussie seems to do the best one for us) and brush it through with a wet brush. We wash her hair once a week with whatever shampoo and conditioner we have (usually dove so nothing fancy), unless she's been doing something particularly gross.

We did try curly girl, but it was too many rules and reading bottles and a lot of extra products, it's easier if we can all use the same!

Kids leave in conditioner to stop it drying out

I use argon oil in DDs (2.5) hair after washing and brushing and it works fantastically. Her curls are then nice and well conditioned rather than frizzy.

I have one with curls. It’s only ever brushed once a fortnight immediately prior to being washed. When they were a teenager it was brushed and washed once a week due to increased oil. They use a shampoo for curls, a leave in conditioner for curls and get it specially cut by someone who knows what to do with curls (dry cut curl by curl). If it needs addressing inbetween it’s just water and fingers.

I never use shampoo on my kids (all under 8 years old), conditioner only. Brush through in the bath with the conditioner in. Then another wide tooth comb through into a neat style after the bath when it's quite wet, and 'bounce' sort of lift the hair back into ringlets, let air dry.

Evening all - just to let you know we've shifted this over to the Chat topic so it doesn't disappear after 30 days, as requested by @110Cornets. Hope that helps. Smile

My DD is 5 I remember when she was younger her hair was a big frizz ball 🤦‍♀️I didn't know she had curly hair as I don't and no one in my family does.

Until a friend pointed out she had curly hair and needed a trim and layers put in which made a huge difference. I watched utube for help with her hair as I was afraid I would damage it.

I wash her hair once a week with conditioner I sometimes use boots curl creme after I wash it, smells lovely and really defines her curls. I use a spray bottle with water and detangling spray mixed together. I know they say don't brush, its OK to do when it's wet. Through out the day I spray her hair I don't soak it just light spray as curly hair needs moisture.

I have a brush for curly hair I brush her hair every few days only when wet, as her hair is quite thick and if I leave to long gets very knotted. Always brush from the bottom up. She's been to the hairdressers a few times as her hair grows fast and drags the curls down and the hairdresser is always saying how her hair and scalp is so healthy and no knots.
