Well, I don't know, define the 'ultimate Mum'.
To me, my Grandmother was the ultimate Mum. Raised in poverty, had five children, worked her arse off to give them a great life. Ran her own business (a bakery) with her sister. They started work at 5am every morning, worked very fecking hard, and were so great at what they did, people in our town still speak very fondly of their bakery, a few decades after it closed. She lost her youngest child in tragic circumstances, and despite the grief that she carried around for the rest of her life, she still managed to be a warm, loving, happy person who was always positive and lit up every room she walked into.
She was an incredible Grandmother. She filled our lives with love and happiness and positivity and warmth.
Did her business make millions, did she raise a 'future queen'? Nope, not even close. However, she raised children who are some of the kindest people I've ever known. She was one of the kindest people I've ever known. She was, for my siblings and I, a constant source of love and security. She cheered us on, loved us deeply, and always saw the best in us. She was one of my very best friends until the day she died. Ultimate Mum? She was incredible.
