What do you actually have for dinner on a normal day?

There are so many great recipes and lovely pictures of "everyday" meals, but I know most people are too tired after they get home from work to make something very complicated at all.

I'm curious, what sort of things do other people really have for dinner on a normal busy day?

I feel like I'm a bit of a slob having something like beans on toast or fish fingers so I'm curious to ask!

Chicken curry, made with a jar of curry sauce.

Salmon fillets with new potatoes and broccoli.

Thai curry, with frozen prawns, tinned sweetcorn, a ready-made Thai paste and a tin of coconut milk

Steak and chips.

Tuna steak and stir fried veg.

Chilli con carne or bolognaise

Pork stroganoff

Sausage and mash.

All these things appear very regularly on our dinner table.

Peeling/Chopping the veg/spuds takes the most time.

I do potato wedges with small potatoes, skin on so really just cutting in half and adding a little oil and seasoning and putting in the oven. I've also started cheating with frozen veg or buying stuff quick to prepare e.g. head of broccoli, bag of mange tout or using frozen mash/chopped onion/mushrooms/peppers/peas or tinned corn etc.

So a quick meal might be some onion, mushroom, peppers and peas from the freezer fried up with chorizo or any left over cold meat or cooked chicken or prawns with some spices/blend of spices, cooked rice and maybe a bit of chicken stock or butter or whatever.

Something vegetarian. Tonight I had pasta with vegetarian meatballs.
Tomorrow I'm going to do a Linda Macca pie with mash, vsgetables and gravy.
I quite often just have a sandwich though. I'm not really into proper dinners.

I'd say on a weeknight I'd probably spend 30-60 mins cooking an evening meal. However it's only DP and I, so I cook 4 portions and we usually have leftovers every 2nd night.

Typical meals for us would be things like risotto, curry, casseroles, lasagne, pizza (dough made from scratch in bread maker). Don't tend to use jar sauces / frozen food much, I try to cook from scratch as much as possible.

If I’m knackered I generally just steam veg and have it with a protein of some description. Salmon/sea bass/tofu etc. Takes 10 mins.

I tend to prepare stuff in advance.

I batch cook stuff like curry, chilli, Bolognese, stew etc

Also, if I'm doing mashed potato or similar, I will make a big pot of it so I can use for another meal.

I also like making stuff like pizza because you can do the dough at any time during the day and leave in the fridge, so it's easy to make once you get home.

Fish and chips (homemade chips-MN love the “homemade “ after food stuff

Chilli (using tinned tommates-not chopped by hand) and absolutely no jar (frowned upon here)

Gammon or salmon with veg and potatoes.

Spaghetti bolognaise

Fajitas-from the box from Tesco

Beef cooked in the slowcooker served in a crusty roll with onions and chips

Lobscouse

Roast dinner on my day off

Lasagne (from the cheap section in Tesco, when i see the Finest range on offer i buy loads. Got 6 once down from £6 to £1.50)

Beans on toast

Toasted sandwiches with chips

Burgers in brioche and salad
