Arbonne protein powder £64??

I have a very good friend who is an Arbonne consultant. She's been doing it for 2 years now so is pretty invested in the whole thing and appears to love doing it.

I'm trying to be a supportive friend and buy her products and said I'd join her on a health kick this month and do protein shakes with her. I've just been quoted (and saw on the website) a bag of Arbonne protein power is £64!! That's a lot isn't it? I usually buy protein powder from Wholefoods for around £30.

Anyone tried the Arbonne stuff? Is it worth the money?

Definitely not worth that. Arbonne is an MLM scheme.

Compare the ingredients?

Aquamarine1029 · 01/01/2021 17:37

Arbonne is a total scam. If you want protein, eat eggs.

Bouledeneige · 01/01/2021 17:38

I'm not a fan of Arbonne. A similar story with a friend of mine. Not protein food but face products - brought my face out in hives. It was awful.

I know it's an MLM and my relationship with my friend has survived that awkward early stage of her trying to rope me in to the Arbonne cult. I'm just shocked they are charging these prices. I have some protein powder in the cupboard so I'll compare ingredients with what they've got on the website, good idea, thanks!

She is no friend, these vultures would see their own friends and family skint and starving and wouldn’t give a crap as long as they were still buying from them and keeping their shitty boss-babe “business” afloat.

BornIn78 · 01/01/2021 17:42

And don’t think for one minute she’s given up on roping you into the cult.

WankPuffins · 01/01/2021 18:14

Yep, eggs are cheaper. Or other protein powders not sold by mlm companies.

What a scam.

Nohomemadecandles · 01/01/2021 18:16

Don't buy the stuff! This is how they make money- guilt!

WankPuffins · 01/01/2021 18:19

And they don't make much money actually selling products. They make money from recruiting people under them who then recruit people under them.

Dh lost a cousin to an mlm. She alienated half their family. It's very sad.

Yes this is what I thought, that they make their money by recruiting others. That's why I'm so shocked at the obscene prices! I mean they must be selling some products, surely?! Someone must be using them!

There is a very interesting long running thread on mlms in the money matters topic.

Not much of the product gets sold. It's very bizzare.

Nohomemadecandles · 01/01/2021 18:42

I meant Arbonne make money. Put people in situations they don't feel able to say no to. Guilt!
You're not not-supportive by not buying overpriced shite from her. It's your money - stay strong! Resist Grin

murbblurb · 01/01/2021 19:17

just because your mate has fallen for this con, does not mean that you have to.

all this shit sold to women (there are no bloke MLMs) really makes me angry. Buy protein powder from a normal shop, or just eat food.

if you can be bothered, point her at all the evidence why MLMs are a con aimed at women.

Bluewavescrashing · 01/01/2021 19:21

Mainly the reps themselves buy the products to hit their sales targets. They are their own best customers. A few pity purchases from friends like you too.

Buying so many products themselves leads the vast majority of reps to spend all their profit on products or run at a loss, but by that point they have been sucked into the scam and alienated people around them, so it's very difficult for them to leave.

The best thing you can do to help your friend is not to buy from her. Eventually she will realise she's been taken for a mug by the hun who recruited her.

JollyAndBright · 01/01/2021 19:23

It doesn’t surprise me.

My sister is an airborne consultant but kind of secretly, she doesn’t post about it on social media or try to sell to anyone that isn’t interested, she only got into it because she has very sensitive skin and was recommended one of their products, tried it and loved it, it’s cheaper to buy the products as a consultant so that’s why she does it.
She’s self employed in the beauty/fitness industry and has a little display for some of the products in her office and sells to some of her clients, but it’s very casual.
From what she’s said the products are very good, but it’s still a mlm so I refuse to try them on principle.
