So i wasnt to move from NE Scotland to my family in the SW England.

I have nothing and nobody where i am.

I dont work due to illness and get DLA plus ESA and housing benefit.

I live in a council house and spent most of savings in kitting out my flat.

It's just me moving, no kids or pets.

I'm saving as much as I can.

Is it easy to sell the white goods/ furniture I own?
Is it expensive to move the items i own ( i dont have a lot)?

How easy is it to let a property in Plymouth?
Will i be able to apply from housing benefit?

Any other bits of advice welcome.

Thank you : )

Have you chosen Plymouth for any particular reason?

Plymouth is fairly sought after with benefits and renting your likely to struggle to find a landlord accepting housing benefit if you do
Be prepared to pay a about 2 k upfront

As for removals usually vary in price from £500-1000 or more this depends on distance to

Probably better looking into landlords first

Selling what you have and save to buy again
Moving is generally expensive unfortunately

Hi. I chose Plymouth as my dad and all the rest ofmy family live there. I have no family in Scotland. Last year I did not see a single person, i dont even have friends here. I want to leave as it would be better for my health. I also miss my family greatly.

I do have professional qualifications. So my aim would be to get back to work.
I don't have a mass of possessions. I got a lot of items second hand when i moved in here. However I'd be happy to sell what i have to get there.

Im putting aside all money spare.
If i can sell furnishing and white good , then all I'd have to take is clothes, dvds, books and personal items.

Was there / is there a thread about making £10 a week here? I can't find it.

If you have a council place have you tired the Home Swapper sites? I'd be very reluctant to give up a secure council tenancy to go private? In the past I've done a home swap and it was very easy to do and I kept my secure council tenancy.

Do you drive? It would be cheaper to hire a van and move yourself as removal companies can be expensive. I'd of thought selling and rebuying everything would be more of a hassle than hiring a van? If you don't drive would a friend or family member help out? We all muck in when family is moving and DH often drives hire vans for friends etc

Good Luck on the move

I'll have a look at home swapper. I can drive but I've never driven on a motorway before. All my family are in Plymouth so they'd need to come up here.
If my dad was a bit younger I'd ask for his help.
I was thinking of maybe renting a partially furnished flat. Then maybe have some things transported but sell the rest.
