Just got test results through via online service and have a telephone consultation booked with my doctor for next week.

Please can you share with me how you managed to lower your levels naturally and without meds. I'd like to start off tomorrow with a healthy new start.

Tia

I’ve known people reduce their cholesterol by changing their diet using a diet sheet similar to the link below.(sorry it’s a Flora proactive one! I’m not suggesting you buy that but the food list is handy)
Avoid foods in the orange column, eat occasionally from the yellow column & green column are the best options. Consistency is key, people who made consistent changes had lower cholesterol after a repeat blood test 3-4 months later.

Exercise, avoiding things like pastry and cream, watching alcohol intake. Oats are good for naturally reducing cholesterol. I have high cholesterol and it is hereditary, so there isn't much I can do to reduce it, as it is caused by a faulty gene, but I can manage it without meds.

Wait until you have talked with your doctor before you start making drastic changes, the relationship between diet and cholesterol levels is complex and you cannot necessarily reduce levels by changing what you eat. Some people just have naturally higher levels than others and a lot depends on what 'type' of cholesterol is prevalent.

Once you have the full breakdown then you can decide how to tackle it. A few more days isn't going to make any difference. BTW the last people I would be taking dietary advice from would be a big food manufacturer!

I have high cholesterol in the family and it makes no difference what I eat but we only manage to get it down if BMI below 23 (man) or 21 (woman) (and we are not even Asian BTW). So that it what we do.
