Wondering where teachers live if they teach in central London

I live and teach in South Wales. I teach in an affluent area and live about a ten minute drive from work, as do most other members of staff. I was in London for a few days over the summer and saw schools in Belgravia, Mayfair etc and it made me wonder where the teachers might live? Do they all have an awful commute from miles away? A teaching salary here means a comfortable life but what is the case for teachers in London with higher house prices, cost of living et al. Just wondering if anyone can shed any light for me just to quench my nosiness. Thanks.

I Used to recruit for the NHS. Mostly younger staff were in house shares centrally and older staff commuted in.

5 years ago recruitment was hard. I can only imagine what it’s like now.

@Plussizejumpsuit

I'd imagine same as most people who earn regular salaries and work in central London. They live on zones 2/3 and beyond then commute in.
Was talking to a bunch of local-ish mums a while again and they moved the the area "when it was much cheaper", I asked when and it was about 10 years ago, but if a shame I was stuck in year nine at the time or I too could have had a lovely big house (not quite as well Connected as where I live but not bad at all)

A friend is a teacher in London & married to another teacher. They bought a h2B house, both earn 60k.

I'm not currently teaching in a central London school but have done whilst living here in SE13 and know lots of current central London teachers who live round here. It's a ten minute train journey into London, some cycle and those without caring responsibilities might opt for a slow-but-cheap bus journey.
