Hi all,
I will be grateful if you could share with me your opinion about Tunbridge Wells Girls Grammar School.
We recently moved to TW and my daughter is 10 years old. I hope to find some valuable information/ advice for the school here Smile
Thank you

Its a well regarded school. The girls I have known who went there liked their school. They do feel pressure to preform and the school puts a lot on exam results. The girls when walking home are broadly well mannered and polite. They have a huge tendensy to roll skirts up high... (more do than other schools) parents i know have been happy with the school and felt pastoral care was ok.

It is a super selective so your dd would need a kent test with a high score. Only Tonbridge girls grammar goes higher with Weald not being a super selective.

I would also consider Bennet memorial if you are looking as they do similar exam results as the girls grammar if you look at gender. And is not a grammar school so no kent test needed. Amazing pastoral care. However Bennett is c of e .

Other two to consider is st Gregory chatolic or SKA k
Skinner Kent academy my children have friends in both and they like their schools. I know little of pastoral care or exam results there

Hi OP, I live in Tunbridge Wells and went to TWGGS many years ago. More recently my daughter, now 23, went there. I hear on here that everyone who takes the eleven plus must be tutored, but my DD didn't have any tutoring at all - and I would not say that she's exceptionally bright - or I wouldn't have said that when she was 10/11 definitely.

She absolutely loved it there. I think the whole ethos of the school has improved dramatically since I was there, when it really was extremely academic and if you didn't do A level maths or were Oxbridge material, you felt an under achiever (my best friend would agree totally). My DD was pushed to achieve but wasn't stressed, there was a lot of encouragement, and her main group of friends is still all the friends she made there, despite being away at university for three years. I highly recommend it and I had reservations about her going there, based on my own experiences.

Wow, I already received two replies. This is so useful and I think it will also help many other parent who are asking themselves the same question. Thank you!
