What's the best way to deal with skin creases caused by floppage

I have a generous overhang - not due to C-sections but to various pregnancies and a period of obesity. Now menopausal floppage has turned the overhang into an apron that rests on my pubes, often leaving a sore red line at the crease.

If this was a crease on a nice plump baby, I'd know what to do: slather on the sudocrem at every nappy change. But that doesn't seem appropriate, or comfortable, so I've been using talc. Which works and is comfortable, but I've got asthma and I'm not sure talc is really the best thing to use.

Any suggestions?

Neal's Yard lavender and tea tree body powder ( talc- free) could be worth a try.
Might need something like Canesten cream to get rid of the redness first?

What is a talc-free powder made from? Because of my allergies I can only use unfragranced products.

I think the redness is purely chafing. If it was thrush it would persist and spread. I got thrush in a skin crease when I was hugely pregnant one hot and sweaty summer. This redness is not the same - though I know where it could lead!

You need a cheap anti fungal cream. Clotrimazole or the like. It will clear it up in no time

Also maybe try lifting the flap of skin up
and drying yourself with the hairdryer on cool before getting dressed.

I think talc-free powders are made from corn starch.

God that sounds so awful! GrinGrin

I do dry. I only get the uncomfortable red line in the crease if I don't talc as well before dressing. If I have a slob around in PJs day I don't get any discomfort. I wear jeans, which probably prevents flappage of the floppage.

My previous experience of thrush in a crease is that nothing soothes it except an anti-fungal cream.

I'll give Canesten a try for a week anyway - won't do any harm.

I second using a hairdryer to dry properly, sounds daft but works

changingnamesandkeepingsane · 29/12/2020 23:41

I have a csection crease and I talc it with a nice Cuticura or medicated powder.

Sudocrem and a couple of bulldog clips 👍🏻

Try Dactacort or Clotrimazole. And, I second after patting dry, use a hairdryer on cool . Then finish off with a light sprinkling of talc.
I supect that you do have a fungal infection, treat it before it spreads.
