Can I ask for your cookware recommendations?

I need to replace my saucepans, I also would like a decent stock pot.

Is Le Creuset worth the money?

I cook every day, from scratch, so it needs to be pretty hardwaring. I would like to avoid spending a fortune, but will pay what something is worth, if you see what I mean.

I have never been able to afford good saucepans before so this is a rare treat 😁

We got a set of Le Creuset stainless steel tri ply saucepans for a wedding present about 16 years ago, they are fabulous. I wouldn’t have the cast iron saucepans as they are too heavy, but I do have several Le Creuset cocottes.

If you have a Costco, their own brand are great too,

Also - I have a few random saucepans from IKEA and they have been absolutely superb. Their non stick is especially good and because they are cheap, I don’t mind binning them in 5 years if the non stick doesn’t hold up. The IKEA nonstick is far better than the Le Creuset milk pan we had.

I would say a le creuset pot is definitely worth buying, check out TK Maxx as they always have them in there at a fraction of the cost.

The Sainsbury's rip off off Creusset is really good.

Stellar

Oooh some real food for thought here.

I have the mauviel m-cook range, they were pricey but they’re very good, they’re used daily and they’re just as good as the day they were purchased. They’re easy to clean, they also stack without causing damage if you need to save space.

MaryBerrysChutney · 29/12/2020 09:21

IKEA do some good ones. While Le Creuset is good, I find that other brands perform equally well.

LittleLego · 29/12/2020 09:26

Another vote for Stellar, clean beautifully in the dishwasher too and reasonably priced

SabrinaThwaite · 29/12/2020 09:27

Le Creuset cast iron saucepans are heavy so I’d be tempted to go for something more lightweight, but my casseroles get used all the time (I have two of different sizes). They’re all at least 20 years old now and still going strong.

There are a few offers around at the moment, although most of the John Lewis clearance ones have disappeared - they do have the 26cm round casserole at 40% off:

I swapped our cast iron Le Creusets for the non stick stainless ones last year due to the sheer weight issue and they are brilliant. Keep an eye out for a sale. John Lewis always have them at 20% off at some point - I bought a few and saved almost £100.

SillyBub · 29/12/2020 09:34

Another vote for Le Creuset stainless steel saucepans. Had ours coming up for 10 years and they are brilliant, look the same as they did the day they were bought and go through the dishwasher daily. Best money we've ever spent.

DonLewis · 29/12/2020 09:36

Circulon all the way here.

Sennedd · 29/12/2020 09:57

I have had Stellar pans for 30 years. I but non stick frying pans and renew when I need to.

Therealone · 29/12/2020 09:58

Stellar and John Lewis stainless steel here, over 30 years old. Used daily, go in the dishwasher, look like new.
I do have Teflon frying pan and wok.

CovidScrewedMyChristmas · 29/12/2020 10:02

Have some le creuset and some of the Sainsbury’s version, and there’s no discernible difference (apart from the price). The Sainsbury’s ones look great too. You can get them from Argos also. My cheap stainless steel smaller pans came from IKEA, and they have been great too.

LabCoatPocket · 29/12/2020 17:59

I had a look in HomeSense earlier to see what they had and for the first time I couldn't see any Le Creuset cookware..

I will have a look at the stainless steel pans though, and the others that have been suggested.

I heard IKEA were good too.
