I didn’t have to last time as was on maternity leave but with it looking more and more likely schools and nurseries will close at least for a while in Jan does anyone have any top tips? Have a 13 month old and 3.5 year old. DD is at school preschool and when isolating previously her school were fab and put little tasks, stories, links to YouTube on tapestry but maybe 40 mins or so work a day.

I work 3 days a week in a job that is flexible but I do need to do work!! DH is by far the higher earner and in a much more demanding job (lots more meeting, higher workload etc). As much as it pains me to sound so 1950s we need to protect his job and income more than mine (financially, stability etc).

How did you work your day? What would be best? Shifts? One day a week intense working instead of 3 normal days and partner having that day off and working 4 intense days?

Terrified if I’m honest. This year has been horrific. Going to work and having space from my (lovely!) DC was a saviour for my PND.

DD1 was 3.5 during the first lockdown and DD2 was 6 months and would sleep in the sling.

Maybe speak to her teacher ans ask what is essential. Adult lead activities should only last 5 to 10 mins at a time for a max for 3 times a day. Our nursery wanted us to continue to daily practise writing her name, do daily read, write, inc phonics and then to practice and then there were other suggestions which were not daily counting, number formation, reading books together, playdoh, colouring, drawing, sing - some of these are obviously child led. Alphablocks and number blocks on ceebies are always another good choice. I would also try to do a daily number activity - so if we were in the garden find me 7 stones, do 7 star jumps, run around the garden 7 times. I found as soon as my youngest could walk they starting playing together which made things easier for me.
